7 Skies - Sushi [Anjunabeats]

A very welcome return to the single scene from 7 Skies with a new track called 'Sushi' featuring a very powerful remix from Ben Gold. It's one to warm the ear drums...

Not counting remix releases it's been well over four months since we had a new single from 7 Skies. His last, 'Caffeine' came out on the Anjunabeats label who takes homage to his latest single 'Sushi'. Just for a little background info, 7 Skies is an Italian producer who goes by the name of David Boldini. Over the past few years he's had releases on Infrasonic record, Alter Ego and is an in house Anjunabeats artists with a few notable releases on the label under his belt already. His tracks have also been featured on 'A State of Trance' and of course, Above & Beyond's 'Trance Around The World'. His smoothly blended approach to progressive and trance accumulates in some fantastic audio, of which is latest efforts are no exception.

:: Ben Gold Remix

For those who like a monotonic tech explosion to their bass lines the Original Mix is a track that’s brimmed to the top full of them. There is a little bit of everything in here, with an explosive bass riff, melodic break and uplifting build which all work together in creating a very lively and up beat piece of trance. On the break, the chord that flows is a delight to ear with sweeping backing pads to add depth. It could go into a euphoric uplifting sequence but it doesn’t, it breaks into a bass driven tech riff that is sure to test the low end on any speaker’s EQ range. It’s only after the second break that there is a nice uplifting feel to it with the bass changes and oriental melody that’s bright and full of warmth.

It's up to Ben Gold to insert a little bit more energy into this and whack it up into an excellently produced uplifting effort. He does that in emphatic style using a bubbling main chord that turns the melody up a notch and raises the tempo a little. He’s taken the original’s deep tech driven bass chord, took a little off it and floated over the top a super uplifting melody back up with a meaty main beat and percussion. He drops a little of the relaxed atmosphere as this one builds but it’s the main melody chords that will get you excited here. For me, its one of his best remixes for a while and as his style evolves a nice reminded he’s a dab hand at the uplifting trance sound.

Conclusion:
Sushi's a great return for 7 Skies, the oriental feel reflected by the track name is presented in audio form both differently with both mixes here. The progressive crew will no doubt drop the original but those looking for more uplift, its Ben Gold all the way.
