After the huge success of his second artist album 'Horizons 02' Darren tate is back with a brand new EP on Mondo Records...

Darren Tate is one the most talented dance music musicians on the scene today without any shadow of a doubt. His gorgeous melodic melodies have been pushed through systems the world over for well over a decade and then some. You may know him for his alter ego's the DT8 Project and more commercial known Jurgen Vires. For me thought, it’s under his own Darren Tate name that he has released his best material. 'Fall From Grace' and 'Synergy Fall' are two early classics that he made his name with more recent tracks like 'Sun Electra' and 'On The 7th Day' made his second artist album 'Horizons 02' one of the best LP's to be released last year. He his hard at work on number three you may be please to know and if they are sounding anything like his new single releases here it's going to be another essential piece of electronic audio.

Tokyo is the first point of call with this double EP. The beat that begins the track is all that is there from the start but things start to build up in no time. The opening percussion feeds in a deep rumbling bass line and shuffles the beat along by adding a scuffed snare. The opening key only plays out short but fits in with the mood perfectly. Very progressive feel to this one but that’s sometimes the way a Tate song is best constructed as the melodies and keys used are warm and inviting. The break sweeps in after a long introduction and with it an orchestral female vocal that introduces an oriental flavoured string with huge atmospheric sounds providing an echo as the backdrop. It's during this that the title of the track makes sense. The feel is very Japanese with the sound once things get into the break. There is a whole build up with an acid influenced undertone fed on top of a building drum roll, its as if the track is about to take off but when the beat comes back it doesn’t. Not that that’s a bad thing; it would not fit with the progressive edge that goes down well with the audio pallet.

Flip to the other side of the coin and you will find Vespers which is anything but progressive. It's a record that’s filled deep with emotion and has an immense presence from start to finish. The tempo is notched up a few BPM to add to the uplifting feeling the whole track creates. It's not your straight forward uplifting affair though, this is trance the way Darren Tate likes you to hear it. Flowing along with a warm, soft but meaty main beat and smooth bass line the opening melody is fed in right from the word go. It's not until the break that comes that the melody starts to come into its own, even adding a slight tribal effected vocal and gorgeous piano keys layered with a building backing sound that will soon explode. There is a soft break beat as all the elements mix together and a shortfall in the build that makes you wait for the main build up. When the beat does explode back into life the deep tone changes on the melody are inspiring. The whole track is brimmed with uplifting qualities and yet again another demonstration of perfect melodies fused together to work as one.

Conclusion:
I am forever impressed with Darren Tate's music. He has developed a style and mood within his tracks he can really call his own and creates the most beautiful melodies, some of which can be found right here. Out of the two tracks here, Vespers for me is the pick of them.
