Here's a track from the budding artist Pulstate. Hailing from Cork, Ireland, this lad is merely 16 years old and yet is cranking out productions which are receiving support from Armin on ASOT, Judge Jules on BBC Radio 1 and are coming in at high spots on various charts. With remixes from Allan O'Marshall and Andy Tau, check this little number out...

:: Pulstate - Lost Forever
:: Infra Progressive
:: INFRAP008

1) Lost Forever (Original Mix)

The Original Mix of 'Lost Forever' is a gutsy, hard hitting track. Kicking off, you experience big, beefy kicks and brisk, stark percussion. The bassline which drops in shortly afterwards rattles the entire track with a deep and coarse pulsating (pulstating?!) sound. It's the kind of sound which would literally grab a dancefloor by the scruff of the neck and cause some serious mayhem. There is another side to this piece too however - there are a few quiet breakdowns which feature a soft piano (and do I love a good piano) led by a gentle and pure synth. As the beats and big bass drops back in, this synth continues to play a melody, producing a great contrast between the two sounds. This is one of many testaments to Pulstate's production abilities and his grasp of what elements combine to make a really decent track.

2) Lost Forever (Allan O'Marshall Remix)
The first remix of 'Lost Forever' seems almost like minimal tech at first, but a deep bass which rises and falls is introduced and this fills a lot of 'space' within the track, bringing it to a more progressive level. There are some synthy elements which reminded me of Sander van Doorn's 'King Of My Castle' remix and these give way to some more electronic, stabby rhythms. By the end of the track, you realise it's quite dark in nature - this is at the really dark and moody end of the progressive spectrum.

3) Lost Forever (Andy Tau Remix)
Andy Tau's remix bowls along at a quickened pace and whilst it is still big and bassy underneath, there is a bigger synth presence. Pads line the background and there's an intriguing array of synths blipping and bobbing away, filling the track full of interesting little elements. There is a similar piano/synth combo used in the breakdown as in the original, but this is downplayed slightly and instead a massive, grinding bassline is added into the mix when the track drops. Even with all of these big sounds, the overall feeling that you get is a soft, smooth ride. A track enriched in goodness - it's a pleasure to listen to.

Conclusion:
More great sounds from Infra who're fast gaining some well earned respect. The tracks most likely to pull interest here are the Original and Tau mixes, I think. Top marks going to Pulstate's original for me, thanks to the great combination of sound, plus that bassline is fantastic. Needless to say, eyes and ears await to see what more quality tunage Pulstate can bring to the masses...!
