The Doorn stable seem to be chucking out one essential release after the other and here's another one with a brand new track by Sam Sharp. The man behind the alias may be one you have come across before...
This is the first release by Sam Sharp on Sander van Doorn's very own Doorn Records label. Those two are the same person as Sam Sharp is one of Sander van Doorn's very own aliases and one which you should be familiar with. I say should be as the Sam Sharp moniker has release tracks likes 'Error' and 'Deep' in years gone by with those records really enhancing Sander's own profile for being a top draw producer. Roundabout is the latest offering of Tech driven trance by Sam with a thunderous remix of Simon Patterson.
:: Original Mix :: Simon Patterson Remix
The Original Mix is the first Sam Sharp record to have surface for some time. Sander's production work has really hit the nail on the head with this as its an excellent seven minutes of tech edged trance with a real building nature to it. The build up on the track feeds in the sounds and prepares you for the main breakdown that will explode later on. The rolling nature that is created in here gives this one real appeal. The scuffed percussion at the start feeds in a hint of the main melody as a short build up rippling riff pumps things up. The bass changes work very well with the dark tech drum that’s leading up the main build up. it's a tricky little string but feeds in the main melody that builds up into distorted explosion of sound. The melodies built in here will surly impress the ear and the spooky strings that come out of almost silence to set up the lead should get the body tingling.
Simon Patterson is not known to be gentle with his productions with most of them being full throttle thumping trance smashes that rip through the speaker like a cold knife does thin air. His remix here is nothing short of that but has a beat driven way of going about it. This is evident from the start with a break build introduction feeding in stabbing vocals and an arousing bass line. The stop start nature of the vocal samples that crash in, along with short rattling riffs, give it an aggressive feel. The thumping Simon we all know is here though along with all the stabs and blips that makes this an unpredictable mix. The main break adds a harmonic approach to the original melody with soft soothing changes laced with a backing break beat to introduced the main melody. When it comes to head the melody fizzles away and the thumping beat pounds back in. It's a very cup style in here but I like it.
Conclusion:
The latest on the Sam Sharp guise does not disappoint and with a thunderous remix by Simon Patterson you've got something different to mix in. The original is the smooth flowing tech that I'm sure trance fans will lap up with this one.
