The latest Cass & Slide release on the infamous Fire label. Cass & Slide have done it again, they have brought yet again another release with only quality recordings. Is it from the same quality as “Perception”, “Fever Rising” and their highly sought after “Glad I Ate Her”? Read on…..

This release is “just” a sampler from their album and contains 4 tracks:
• Jfok
• All The Freaks (Dark Globe Remix)
• Spanker
• Sign Your Name (Neon Heights Vocal Remix)
Released on 2 records.
It offers a little bit of progressive, a little bit of breakbeat, a perfect mixture.

JFOK immediately drags you into the progressive world where Cass & Slide live in. Pounding beats, a breathtaking melody, everything for which progressive stands for.
It starts off with the beat and a little bit of melody, which has been done to maximize the effects. And it worked out great. After about a minute you can hear the haunting vocals of a man, it’s hard to make out what he says, because there are a lot of effects being used. Which benefits the track. Around the middle of the track, you get another layer into the track, this time with female vocals, no singing, but saying words.
This is a great track in my opinion, one that Sasha & Digweed would play in their build-up of their set.

All The Freaks (Dark Globe Remix) starts of nicely with breaks, and after a minute, you can hear a dark voice saying “All The Freaks”. After that, you still have the breaks but with a nice melody in the background. The melody is based on the breaks and puts an emphasis on the beat. Nicely done. For the rest of the track, you get pretty much the same.
I feel a little bit disappointed when listening to this track, because they could have done more with it. But it stays a nice track.

Spanker, what’s in a name?
Starts of with a nice beat, and you can immediately hear that this track is quality. After about a minute, the whole sound changes when the melody kicks in, and you won’t be disappointed when you hear it. Towards the end, all the different layers come together, and form an incredible sounding track.

Sign Your Name (Neon Heights Vocal Remix).
The vocals on this track are from no one less then Sam Mollison, who has worked together with Sasha on “Magic”.
This isn’t progressive to the fullest, because it has a “clubsound” to it. We can’t expect more of the vocals, because they are just great, and they fit the track perfectly.
This track is perfect for an after-hours club or a lounge club, or when you are just at home, and feel like relaxing and chilling.

My overall impression of these 4 tracks is: I like them a lot, although All The Freaks could have been better and the use of Sam Mollison as a vocalist was a great idea. If you like progressive trance, then you will like this release.
