Dimitry Almazov is Bobina, and he's sitting at the top of the Russian club scene right now. Championed by the likes of Ferry Corsten and Paul van Dyk, he's the only Russian who appears in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll, he has won Best DJ at the Russian Dance Music Awards and he is the only Russian to have played Trance Energy.

Following successful album releases in 2004 ('Catchy') and 2006 ('Beautiful Friend'), Bobina began work on this third album in 2007. The work involved various vocal collaborations with well known vocalists - expect to hear tracks featuring Elles de Graaf, Tiff Lacey, R Kenga and Erire.

Onto the album itself, Bobina opens it with true style with 'Lighthouse', an awesome piece of work, to be fair. The silky smooth flow, undeniable rhythm and totally effortless vocal integration make for a wicked, explosive introduction to the album. 'Slow' is another great track which offers an instant contrast - the electro, housey grooves and vocals are an immediate demonstration of Bobina's arsenal of available sounds.

One distinctive element of Bobina's style is his wide use of acoustic sounding instruments. Throughout the album you'll hear pianos, guitars and all sorts of sounds likened to the acoustic side of music. And moving on from his style, Bobina's production skills are most notable. Take 'Where Did You Go', for example. The guitar rules the breakdown and the subsequent melody, the harmonies used and the synths which create them are fantastic, not to mention the way the vocal just melts into the track. Bobina knows his music and the hard work he puts in is reflected in tracks like this.

If you had to describe Bobina's focal sound whilst listening to this album, you'd end up going for something like "epic", I feel, as centrepiece tracks like 'Time & Tide' and 'Spinning' convey so very well.

There are some slightly dodgy 'europop' moments with 'Honestly' and 'Go Get Vodka' but I guess you have to cater for everyone and these can be overlooked by most!

Conclusion:
In conclusion, a compelling album from Bobina. It really does him justice and will only help him rise further into the worldwide scene of trance music. Give this a serious listen.
