1) The Last Time (Club Mix)
Likely to be the most played version of this track, the Club Mix plays out an easy intro and then begins to lure your into its sound with the distinctive melodic triplets that makes this track so recognisable. The first half of the track is quite sedate in feeling. Calming sounds are coupled with the great vocal work from Fisher, whose lyrics tell a slow and evocative story. As the track progresses, and especially when the chorus is hit, the vocal work becomes more and more emotional and heartfelt. A subtle yet powerful pad backing also helps with this nice little trait. A smooth and flowing track, very strong in defining The Thrillseekers new and refined sound. If you're not singing along at the top of your heart by the end of this track, I'll be very surprised!
2) The Last Time (Hydroid & Roman Weinstein Remix)
Whilst this interpretation is infact a bit pacier, it takes a more minimal approach. It's kind of like a crossover of progressive and tech, with the vocals taking a very clean and clear lead. There is a short section during and after the breakdown where some synths dive in, along with a small bit of piano work, and things are tranced up by several notches, but this dries up soon enough and you;re back to the more minimal, and gritty sounds from before.
3) The Last Time (Simon Bostock Remix)
Simon Bostock applies a standard trancey make over here. A quicker pace is maintained by active percussion and slightly more pokey bass. The vocals still play a main part, but most of the main sections are backed by an edgy synth, stabbing out a simple rhythm, which doesn't change much throughout.
Conclusion:
very nice release, with the original Club Mix being my mix of choice. The vocals are fantastic and the overall feeling this calm and serene track gives you is quite sublime.
