This recent Monster Sampler releases sees yet another varied cross section of new talent trying to get a foothold in today's busy scene...

1) Estrata - Amphora

Estrata has put in a solid, down to earth trancer here. The sound is substantial, meaty even, and it carries with it some superbly smooth synths. These quality synths put out a simple hook/chord progression but the effortless sounding synths and the perfect combination of drive and energy propel the entire track with the greatest of ease. The only slight issue here is the track's length - it's pretty damn long! You get a long main section, then another breakdown and climax and even more main section action. Not necessarily a pitfall, but there is a danger with trance these days that people may tire easily of one thing. Still, a really gret piece of trance all the same!

2) Ryan Blair - Tek-Drum
We switch to techy, minimal sounds here. Ryan Blair has put in an effort with raw synths and deep, pounding basses. The whole thing is turned on its head by a wickedly uplifting breakdown featuring glassy synths and a really cool melody. As fast as it comes about though, it vanishes into 100% raw, techy gritty action. Stomping action with a hint of old-skool sound to it.

3) Graeme Harrison - Sea Breeze (Genix & Graeme Harrison Original)
So far this release has seen uplifting trance, and techy beats. Now Graeme Harrison puts in a progressive number with the help of Genix. Whilst downbeat, this one carries a hefty kick and and is buoyed by an emotionally driven set of chord changes and counter melodies.

Conclusion:
3 decent tracks but the one that stands out for me has to be Estrata - Amphora. Great trance which is hopefully an indicator of what's to come...
