One of the latest from the brilliantly tough Flutterspark is a joint effort from Def Tactical and M6...
:: Def tactical & M^ - Invictus :: Flutterspark :: FS007
1) Invictus (M6 Remix) M6 gets right in there and creates an instantly tough, dirty little monster. The repetitious, spiraling bassline creates a dizzy rhythm which goes hand in hand with stark stabs of synth which slice through the track. After the breakdown, there's a fantastically drawn out build up section with stacks of tension made up of the chattering percussion, teasing stabs of bass and a high tension snare. The moment everything booms back in is a riotous, immense occasion. This one teeters on the dividing line between tech trance and techno, but whatever you call it, it's still damned good!
2) Invictus (Def tactical's Not Even Close Mix) This remix is a totally different take on the tune. It has an easier pace, a lighter feel and the medley of drums used in the percussion and the soft bass makes for a really great little groove. Later developments see an old skool styled synth put out a very simple but catchy hook. It's in these later stages that you pick up on the still quite techy aspect of this production - even though it's constant throughout, you get drawn into the sound because it drives itself very well indeed.
Conclusion:
A groovy continuation for Flutterspark who've been home to some quite unique and bold releases. The two different styles explored here make this a strong and very tempting release.
