Talking a loook at the back on this release its clear to see you can expect a lot of samples and cuts from different records here. The generally mix here is break beat old style and new with vocal cuts popping in. There are more MC's featured in this mix than you would find at an Uprising event, if you’re unfortunate to ever attend one that is. The use of house records and break beats make for a very diverse and unusual mix.

The second track on the mix sets the style that follows. Using the classic Altern8 Activ8 vocal using a different vocalist from the original it drops that over a break beat riff while importing one of Freestlers backing beats. How they layer and chop sounds over each other is very cleaver. One of the highlight tracks in the mix would be track 5 which has another classic house riff of Altern 8 in the form of Infiltrate.

The blend of old house in this mix sits perfectly with the use of MC's and Freestylers edits. It reminds of a few old house classics you should really dig out and listen to again. The Freestylers very much make their own rules with this mix chopping vocals and using MC's to layer those onto of riffs taken other tracks. No track last longer than three minutes, some only play for thirty seconds before they chop the beat off and introduce another.

The good thing about this mix is they drop riffs everywhere when you don’t expect to, slide in a vocal from a track you know then bang in the riff, just as your enjoying that its chopped into something else. Its a full CD of non stop changing break beat house.

The only downside on the mix is sometimes you feel like they could have used a sample less as it does get a bit overloaded at times. That adds to the spice of the CD though in all and makes the mix very freestyle. They are the Freestylers after all. There are elements in here for everyone, old acid riffs, piano melodies, funky vocals and old skool raps.

BONUS CD

1. There They Go/In Love With You - Krafty Kuts/Freestylers
2. Uptempo - Tronikhouse
3. No Way Back - Adonis
4. Break Of Dawn - Rhythm Of The Loose
5. Activ 8 - Altern 8
6. Now Is The Time - Freestylers
7. Get Up And Dance - SCAM (2)
8. Take Me Away - True Faith
9. Infiltrate 202 - Altern 8
10. We Rock Hard - Freestylers

The release also features a very special bonus CD featuring ten tracks in their original form that they used in the mix. They are old house and break beat records with ALtern8 and Adonis. All in full glory and original form to so you can sit back and enjoy the records in their full glory. They remind you of those early days of house by in the nineties, when I were still wetting the bed and wondering what a 303 was.

Conclusion:
Freestylers really push the limits of cutting and chopping with this mix. Slashing classic riffs with audio samples and melodies from the Freestylers own in house productions. A mix that ever changes and pops up with surprises from start to finish. It's mostly break beat but house in others. If your into the chops and reocords that have a bit of old and new you will like this mix. I've only ever heard a few of their productions but their DJ and mix skills impressed with. The addition of a bonus CD with unmixed old gems on it is a great addition and worth lisening to again and again.
