Italian mega-producer, Mauro Picotto, hands over an excellent new reworking of the 1999 techno classic Taub under his Megamind alias!
This track was available since the 4th of October on Italy Undergound.
A1: Megamind - Taub 2002
The track starts off with the familiar Taub hook - that rough dark synth. Clever use of SFX here creates a nice feeling of build up. Picotto then hits us with a change of style and a breakbeat section is introduced. Its nice to listen to and isn't too slow at the same time. Then theres a break, and the Twilight Zone voiceover comes in. The track then kicks off into a nice thick sound of bass, percussion with a strange high pitch screechy thing in the background. At the peak of the track, the main Taub hook is brought back in and its just great. Theres another breakbeat breather, which soon goes back into the main thick niceness that is Taub 2002. The track fades out very slowly to wind down.
Conclusion
I love Taub. I love Taub 2002. Its one of Picottos masterpieces, a must have record. Hopefully this'll revitalise the old Taub and we'll get to hear that one around too!
