© SashaSasha is selling his vinyl collection and you can get your hands on it as he is launching a special auction through Amplifyd where you can bid to own a piece of dance music history from one of the all time icons…

For decades, as both a DJ and Producer, Sasha has been a pioneer in global dance music. From the early 1990s through today, he has topped DJ lineups at clubs and festivals globally and DJ rankings in the press. His original songs, remixes, and DJ mixes are dance music canon. His groundbreaking residencies in the late 90s, early ’00s included three of the world’s best clubs -- Space in Ibiza, Twilo in New York, and Fabric in London.

Sasha performed with vinyl records for the first 20 years of his career, cultivating a truly unique music library of vinyl, white labels, and acetates, derived from digital tapes of unreleased songs handed to him by their producers. Sasha’s partnership with Amplifyd provides fans and collectors a unique opportunity to own some of these legendary records, whose impact resonated globally at a time pre-dating infinite omnipresent digital marketplaces. The records in this special collection are significant, not only because they are Sasha’s own, but also because they are the original artifacts produced during dance music’s pre-social media era.

The Sasha Collection opens Sasha’s archive for the first time, celebrating and showcasing the 25th anniversary of his 2-CD Global Underground 13: Ibiza mixed compilation. Capturing the sound and energy of his live DJ sets informed by simultaneous residencies at Space, Twilo, and Fabric, the mix was received with glowing adoration by fans worldwide. To this day, Global Underground 13: Ibiza is considered one of the best mix compilations in the history of electronic music.

Sasha’s Quote:

After 20 years in storage, I’ve decided to curate a special auction of records from my cherished vinyl collection. From my first purchase in 1987 to my shift to digital in 2005, these records were my musical life. Though they hold deep emotional value, it's time to share them with collectors and fans who will deeply appreciate them.

This collection is a time capsule of my journey, filled with rare, unique pieces that map my evolution as a DJ. I started with vinyl, but as technology advanced, I embraced digital formats like Ableton, Traktor, and Pioneer. Watching vinyl DJs these days still sparks nostalgia, but my career has moved in a different direction.
I've wrestled with this decision for over a decade, but I’m ready to let go and have partnered with Amplifyd for this exciting journey. Dan Willis and his team both understand and appreciate the historical importance of these records to my career and have shown endless enthusiasm, dedication, and passion in collaborating with me to bring this project to life, which has been a significant undertaking.

Letting go is emotional and very hard. Revisiting these records, seeing them again, holding them, and even smelling them evoked memories of a unique chapter in my life. But by releasing this collection, I’m sharing my history and allowing these records to inspire others. I hope it expands the legacy of these records, allowing them to live on in the hands of old collectors and new admirers alike.

We start with some treasures from my Global Underground Ibiza days: signed copies, well-worn/played DJ tools, and unique acetates of unreleased versions of tracks—my secret weapons in an era before digital file transfers."

Highlights of the collection include:

Sasha “Xpander” 12” Vinyl

“What’s there to say about Xpander… It’s probably my biggest-ever record and my most frequently requested track whenever I am out; people still ask for that. I don’t play it very often… I think people would like it if I finished almost every one of my sets with it. I have to be very careful when I play it these days because I don't want to be doing retro sets very often. Sometimes there’s a time and a place to play that record, and it still stands the test of time. It was quite a fast record; whenever I listen to it at its normal speed, I think how fast it is. I always used to play it pitched down most of the time unless I was playing a festival.”

BT “Fibonacci Sequence” 12” Vinyl

“BT is such a talented producer. What Brian was doing with sound back then, nobody else could touch; he understood the emotional context of how people were listening to music back then. I mixed the second half of the GU13 from “Perception” onwards in one take, and I just couldn’t get the beginning of the second CD right. It was getting down to the wire, and the night before I had to deliver for mastering, I still hadn’t finished this damn mixed compilation and we had this 15-minute hole in the CD. I must have sat in the studio for two days trying different intros out, and nothing worked. I was at the point of giving up when BT sent me over a new production the morning of the deadline. It was “Fibonacci Sequence.” It was sent to the studio at about 6 pm. I put it on, and I was like, oh my God, there’s my intro, and it’s done! I immediately pulled out “Zoe” by Paganini Traxx, realizing it was in the same key as Cass and Slide’s “Perception”. I mixed it all together and that was the last piece of the jigsaw.”

Bedrock “Heaven Scent” 12” Vinyl

“It’s John’s biggest anthem. Again, it still sounds great to this day, and he still gets pestered for it. I had to use that. Heaven Scent was absolutely monstrous back then. I knew I had to finish the CD with that piece of music. In addition to Twilo, John and I were doing a lot of festivals together at that time, between Xpander and Heaven Scent, they were usually the two tracks we were finishing our sets with.”

Medway “The Baseline Track” 12” Vinyl

“What’s great about the auction is that we have a very special version that may be the only existing copy. Medway sent me a digital audio tape (DAT) and I had this amazing mastering engineer over at 777 in West London, who used to cut these one-off acetates for me. I cut the version I received of this Medway track to acetate. I had it for a long time, I think I had it for almost a year, just for myself. I think he released it after the Ibiza album came out. I remember getting sent the promo, and the mastering on the promo was just so different from my version. And then I told him that, and then I think they remastered it, and I think he changed the track a little bit because the final version that came out was a different mix / mastered version than what I used, which is the copy in the auction. It had all of the same sounds, but sonically, it was nowhere near as fat as the version that I cut to that 777 acetate, which I used for the GU13 compilation. This is truly a one-of-a-kind version of “The Bassline Track” on acetate.”

Sasha & Darren Emerson “Scorchio” 12” Vinyl

“I worked on that track with Darren Emerson from Underworld. He came to my house; it was a scorching hot day. I had my studio set up in, almost like a conservatory at the back of the house, acoustically it was terrible, but it was such a nice room to work in. The sun was beating down - a beautiful English summer’s day in the countryside. We got carried away by the vibe that day and made this pure summer record. It was a really exciting piece of music to work on.”

“ Sasha’s influence and legacy as a DJ and producer are beyond words. Amplifyd is thrilled to collaborate with such a pioneer to provide fans with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own many historical records from his collection, including the actual vinyl used to make his iconic Global Underground 13: Ibiza mix."
- Dan Willis (Amplifyd Founder & CEO).

"I'm always looking for exciting companies in the music industry.  When I was introduced to Dan, his passion, drive, commitment, and extensive knowledge of the industry—and the fact he is an artist too—made it an easy decision to invest in him and get Amplifyd off the ground” - Steve Anderson / Baseline Ventures.
