Forget any ideas of a barbaric fictional game show because Running Man is a highly talented Russian trance producer known as Vladimir Kolesnikov and he brings two new tracks for the second release for Breathe Music this year...

It’s no secret that there is a lot of emerging new dance music talent coming out of Russia these days. Breathe Music have one of those hot prospects’ delivering their second release of the year in the form of Vladimir Kolesnikov, aka ‘Running Man’. He has already been getting himself acquainted within the trance scene with a stream of releases so far this year which include the likes of ‘Sorrow’ and ‘Believe’. His uplifting style and euphoric approach to trance highlighted him to Breathe who had no hesitation in signing him up for this new release. Two tracks to check out here then with ‘Shine’ getting a remix from rising Dutch talent Estiva.

:: Shine
:: Shine (Estiva Remix)
:: Amber Beach

Breathe are one of those labels who have a ‘less is more’ policy when it comes to music, and that’s not bad thing, because its quality over quantity and five months into 2011 this is their second release. It’s from Burning Man, who differs from breath as he’s been bombarding the scene with new releases this year. He’s another new trance talent and we like those on i:Vibes, especially when they produce records like this.

‘Reach’ is a mixture of uplifting trance with a Balearic addition that fits perfect together. From the opening beat the Original is bursting with energy and its not long before s short break and lead riff gets going. The lead riff is very fresh and you have sense of the balrearic about it with subtle piano keys in the background. It’s not until a flange effect sweeps in that the gorgeous guitar string melody strikes you. Think along the lines of classic Solarstone and you’ve got the sound of that melody there. The build up to the very euphoric melodyopens with a smart drum roll and another flange effect to bring back the Balearic as the beat drops back in. The percussion is pretty soft in here which gives it that relaxed atmosphere but with it keeps a frantic energetic rhythm.

Things take a touch for the minimal with Estiva’s remix. He’s got the mood of the original there but after the frantic pace of the original his remix just starts off a little soft. If you take a deeper listen you realise this is not up keeping the style from the original but this takes on a very delicate and precise approach. Once you do open up your ears to this you will find the relaxed beats a joy to behold and experience just the same uplifting emotion for the melody as the original gave you. It may not immediately strike you but give this mix a chance and I think you’ll be pleasantly impressed with Estiva’s gentle blends here.

He’s not just going to leave it at one track Running man as he’s an extra one here on the ‘digital’ flip. He’s flexing his electro dirty bass line riffs with this track right from the get go. The explosive bassline and punch on the beat are joined by a harmonic melody that’s immensely addictive. Playing around with a bright flavoured chord to inject a little uplift in here is welcome to the ears, as is the female vocal. The breakdown is superb though, full of sweeping atmosphere and a very oriental string to polish things off. The bassline might drop an initial deep mood to this but as it gets going this is bright, perky and harmonic to the ears.

We have another very talented new name on the trance scene that is sure to get quite a few plays in the big names radio shows with releases like these. Two very different productions here demonstrate his flexibility with production and with an established name like Estiva you may be inclined to go to that mix first. Don’t though, as Running Man’s originals are the beats to start bashing first on this release!
