There is a third artist album on the horizon of Darren Tate for release this year and the first previews have just been released on Mondo. Two sampler tracks from what we are sure will be an essential artist album of 2011...
Darren Tate is without question one of the most talented musicians to be involved with electronic dance music. His productions over the years simple speak for themselves in highlighting the outstanding quality he has. Weather it be under his more commercially know DT8 alias or as Darren Tate it’s hard not to be drawn into his music. With tracks like ‘Fall From Grace’ and ’Prayer For A God’ going down as all time progressive gems his latest records will be one’s in the future for sure. His last artist album ‘Horizons 02’ was quite simply outstanding with a warm depth edging between house and trance. He will be releasing the third album this year and the first glimpse of music to be featured on it has surfaced. A new two track sample EP with two tracks that will leave you itching for his third Horizons.
:: Field of Dreams :: Bala
You won’t find a bitter aftertaste with this sample of Darren's latest artist collection. If anything thing this little two track sip will leave you wanting more. Two tracks of very different nature with this sampler, it's looking to be an album with a few varying styles but still having that welcoming Darren Tate flavour that draws you in to start with. Field of Dreams is one of the best tracks I’ve heard from Darren for quite a while, not to say that any of his recent tracks were poor because they have been superb to. It’s got a progressive warmth and simplistic melody that will draw in your audio senses and set them off. Right from the opening soft edged beat and effortlessly fed in percussion there is just something irascibly inviting about this track. Maybe it’s the delicate melody which sweeps in and out or the atmospheric bass line that creates an immense sense of depth that catches the ear. The key changes underneath the ever flowing melody give this track a calm uplifting feeling about it.
Flipping over this digital EP and it’s a completely different direction for Bala with the sound. There is a nice mixture of flamboyant piano and instrumental keys right at the heart of this moody progressive journey. He builds up to this main explosion with a minimalistic beat and ever layering loops. It’s a simple introduction but an addictive one which draws your interest, its almost like a tribal drum beating with a snippet of vocal for effect. When he drops the main melody over the track it adds an electronic house flavour to what feels like a Caribbean percussion loop. Slide this one under the progressive tech house banner and something you might not expect from Darren after the immensely moving Field of Dreams.
Conclusion:
There have not been much over the years that have disappointment me from Darren Tate. He just keeps on impressing with progressive gems like these two. Both very different tracks but Field of Dreams for me stands out as the one you should click play on first! It's a very promising sound bite of what is to come with his third Horizons LP.
