Danjo is back with a new release, this time teaming up with Siberian producers Andrew Shartner for a melodic gem called ‘It Is Written’ on Flashover Recordings…

When he’s not mixing up tunes in his electronic playground Danjo is busy making them. He has been for years with great success as one half of Danjo & Styles. He’s been going solo these days but been knocking heads with other producers from around the continent for his past few releases. For his latest collaboration, he teams up with Andrew Shartner, which you may think is the one producer but actually two (I think) from Siberia. ‘It Is Written’ is the name and it’s a track which you may have already heard on Ferry Corsten’s second ‘Once Upon A Night’ compilation released a little while ago. If it’s up to scratch for a compilation mixed by Ferry it’s a tune worthy of any dance music fan’s attention. Danjo is a dab hand at creating powerful melodies so what can him and Andrew Shartner come up with here?

:: Danjo Mix
:: Andrew Shartner Mix

You may be wondering where the original mix is on this release? Well, wonder no more as there’s not one. That's nothing to be alarmed by as you get two mixes here, one from Danjo and the other from Andrew Shartner with two different moods embracing an irresistible melody. The melody in here is simply superb, soft, inviting and full of rich texture with Danjo’s mix showcasing it to great effect with an atmospheric echo on the strings. Within his mix, a progressive beat and percussion build up with a very relaxed tempo to go with the mood of the main guitar melody. He really drives the life into that melody with an intense echo on it that drops in after the break. Within that break it’s a collection of deep atmospheric sweeps and pads.

Andrew Shartner’s mix was the one Ferry picked out for his compilation and uses that melody in a similar tone to Danjo but his percussion and beat drives a different edge to things. In the lead up its how he drives in a deep groove with the bass line floating delicate strings and a leading string that draws you in. The tempo is quite relaxed once more, and the break in here lets the guitar melody show its worth. It’s a melody with plenty of emotion and impact and like Danjo’s has a powerful echo effect on it to give it more edge. There really isn’t much to choose between the two mixes here as they are both excellent.

Conclusion:
This is an excellent release with both mixes as good as the other. The melody is sublime and both mixes have a much laid back mood, perfect for those trance sets where you want play with the emotions. Danjo’s mix is one with an inch more oomph that Andrew Shartner’s but I wouldn’t pick out either one as the highlight, as they both are for me.
