The almighty classic track from 4 Strings from way back in 2002 makes a return with three brand new remixes. We have interpretations from Purple Haze, Mac Zimms and 4 Strings themselves...

:: 4 Strings - Take Me Away (Into The Night) 2006
:: Liquid Recordings
:: LQ063

A: Take Me Away (Into The Night) 2006 (Purple Haze Remix)

Purple Haze has done a complete and utter rework of the tune because it doesn't bear much resemblance to the original at all. Here we have deep beats, chattering percussion and deep, dark, humming basses. An eerie melody fills the track as things progress, in Purple Haze's unmistakable melancholic style. The break sees some synth strings help the melody along whilst the beats are absent. Then it continues as it did before in a dark and eerie manner, with it sometimes reminding me of Oliver Prime style productions. Nice track, but a bit of an odd remix.

B1: Take Me Away (Into The Night) 2006 (Mac Zimms Remix)
Mac Zimms has applied his ultra techy style to this classic. The result is something which features massive pounding beats and awesome, pumping bass which throbs and thrives upon each beat. There is a wicked techy riff which grinds away in the background and helps to keep the track driving and alive. You hear various techy synths and sfx blips as the track progresses towards the breakdown. Up until the breakdown, nothing has been given away to the unsuspecting listener, but then that familiar classic melody is brought in and rings out throughout the break. Soon though, after a frenzied build, things drop back to the pumping techy reality that is Mac Zimms and the track fires off towards the end in a blaze of techy glory.

B2: Take Me Away (Into The Night) 2006 (4 Strings Remix)
4 Strings of course have to have their own input into this remake, and here it is. Building on the current evolution of their own sound, you have a track with a full bodied sound and good energetic undertones. It also has the slightest essene of techno in the initial build up too, which is quite interesting. The beats and really heavy percussion give way to a quiet breakdown which is filled again by the classic, unforgettable melody, but only for a short time, as it is transformed into a repeating synth hit which goes on, after a build up, to power a driving and energetic section which is well within the realms of stong tech trance. There is a 'fake' ending (which is becoming quite the trademark of 4 Strings these days) after which the melody kicks in again and you're treated to another onslaught of the full powered techy nature of this track.

Conclusion:
It's great to see the return of this track and it's also great to see such varied remixes. Something completely different from Purple Haze, very strong techy influenced action from Mac Zimms and a rather surprisingly techy remix from 4 Strings themselves. Well worth a listen instead of turning your nose up at yet another classic remade.
