The masters are back! Many of you will remember their mind blowing tracks like Zeitreise and Dark Horizon which are still considered some of the best Hard Trance tracks ever made, Now we have a new release, Hear Me Calling!
Hear Me Calling (Mystic Mix)
Beginning slowly, with great percussive elements, we build up, adding a bassline and a soft vocal too. The melody at this point is just a few notes, but effective in taking us forwards. The vocal is sung, but not hugely loud, leaving you to appreciate the background elements, without being overpowered by a vocal. The main string is once again awesome, something I always remember from the older tracks was their ability to give me goosebumps from their strings & instrument use, and this again begins to do the same. The bassline is added, and the kick soon joins us for a while, before we break again into another more vocal bit approaching the 5 minute mark. Once again the dream-like string joins us and all the elements compliment each other so well, great stuff!
Hear Me Calling (Vocal Mix)
Starting off with a simple melody and kick, shakers and hi-hats are amongst the first percussions added soon after, and a few more appear gradually, before the bassline comes in strongly, and soon after the kick/bass drive forwards. A melody begins to join us, and slowly progresses into more sophistication, the vocal is the next element added, again though it's there but not too loud, giving the chance to appreciate the full emotion of the background elements. About 4 minutes in is the best part of this version, with lovely instrument usage again playing a major part, and the arrangement just topping it off. Another very solid outing though.
Conclusion:
After so much time, personally I wondered whether Christian & Tino would be able to have evolved their sound, and retained the ability to produce emotional trance, something which I personally have missed with Dark Moon holding a special personal place from previous tracks, and I think this release proves they have indeed managed to do that!
