You got the vibes?

As you might have noticed the past couple of days all registered users now have a value called "vibes" connected to their profile. Now it's time to let you know what it is and how it works...

We decided to add a points-counter for all registered members at i:Vibes, giving you points for various stuff you do on the site. These points counts as your vibes, and it measures how active you are on i:Vibes. We started counting back in May, and have been collecting vibes for you all since then. The idea was to let you keep all these vibes when we made it all public but unfortunately our coder (me) did a mistake on the day of launch resulting in a loss of all actions from August for several users. To make it fair for everyone we decided to delete everything we had collected and start from scratch. This means everyone started at zero yesterday...

How can I get more vibes?
You can increase your vibes in many ways, currently the following are in use but more will be added very soon:

- Each day you do anything at i:Vibes you get 0.10 vibes
- For creating a new forum topic you get 0.05 vibes
- For replying to a forum post you get 0.02 vibes
- For reading an article you get 0.01 vibes
- For sending a PM to another user you get 0.02 vibes
- For voting on the frontpage-poll you get 0.10 vibes
- For voting inside an article (review) you get 0.10 vibes
- By submitting a song to the trance-chart you get 0.03 vibes
- For voting in the chart you get 0.02 vibes
- For writing a message in the shoutbox you get 0.01 vibes
- By giving others a Good/Bad rating in the forums you get 0.01 vibes
- If someone else rates your forum-post as good you get 0.01 vibes
- If someone else rates your forum-post as bad your vibes gets reduced by 0.01

We have many other ways of earning vibes planned and they will be added one-by-one the next few days and weeks.

You will soon get an option to see detailed information about how your total vibes have been earned. Various statistics to view the persons with most vibes, both total and per category, will also be available in near future.

Why should I bother improving my vibes?
Each month we will present the most active users of i:Vibes. This is a chance for you to compete with others to be on top of the list. From time to time we will have give-aways for the top-users. To prevent users from being very active only when they can win something we will NOT let you know in advance when there's a possibility to win something, or what you can win. Just be active at all times to be sure you have a chance to win anything. We might choose top-new-topic-creator for one week, or most overall vibes for a month as a winner. Maybe even give the person most often on the top ten list over a period of time a little reward.

Final words
To make sure you collect vibes at all times make sure you choose the "always logged in" option when logging in, or at least log in everytime before you start reading articles and doing other things. Your vibes gets updated in your profile instantly when you do something, so you should always be able to check how well you are doing. We have added flooding filters to make sure people don't cheat, so there's no use trying to open an article 100 times in a row to get more points etc.
