Something a bit different to what we usually play but very nice comes from the birth of a new label by Calussa called ‘Nusonido’ in the form of a release called the ‘White Tiger EP’…
Acclaimed DJ/producer duo Calussa, comprised of Cuban-American brothers Gino and Andrew Gomez, announces the launch of their brand-new label, NUSONIDO, debuting with the White Tiger EP in collaboration with Ben Miller, out now.
NUSONIDO, meaning “new sound” in a blend of English and Spanish, represents a fresh creative direction for Calussa, evolving from their previous label, Hurry Up Slowly. The new label is rooted in a more mature sonic identity focused on house, tech house, and Latin-inspired grooves, reflecting the duo’s Miami heritage and global influences.
“This is the perfect time to start something new,” Gino says. “We’re playing a different kind of music in our sets, and we’re inspired by a fresh sound that didn’t quite fit with the identity of our old label. NuSondido gives us a clean slate.” Andrew adds, “Hurry Up Slowly became more of one thing - Afro house - while this new label gives us space to explore multiple genres through a house lens.”
The White Tiger EP establishes the tone for this new chapter. In partnership with rising Australian producer Ben Miller, who is part of Chris Lake’s creative circle, this two-track project showcases Calussa’s distinctive rhythmic energy and a more polished and versatile quality. “The Power” emanates steamy, tribal vibes, while “White Tiger” offers a bouncier, funkier feel. “These tracks show the side of us we want people to hear more of,” Andrew says. “They bring in that early 2000s house vibe but feel current and club-ready.”
With plans to ramp up to a weekly release schedule post-summer, NUSONIDO is not just a platform for Calussa’s evolving style but also a hub for like-minded artists pushing vibrant, percussive, and genre-blending house music.
