Fresh in on the Tsuba label is a new double EP from German house producer Alex Niggeman. If your a fan of the old school progressive sound tune into these for a retro flashback...

We all know what a place Germany is for electronic dance music has brought so many iconic tracks from inspirational artists over the years. One German I’ve been taking quite a liking to over the past year is a one Alex Niggeman. His dark twisted jacking house style has somewhat of an addictive appeal with his last single release ‘Lately’ being a prime example. If you have watched the video it did end up with him getting a nice slap for his walk around taking in Amsterdam’s nightlife and chatting up other people’s misses. The track gained support from the likes of Timo Mass and Joris Voorn and no doubt got people, thinking of ideas what to do after a hard day at the office. His new EP is out very soon and having taking a very eager ear to it I thought I’d give you my opinion on it.

:: The Point Of No Return
:: Cite

Looking back on house history and having a first taste of ‘Point Of No Return’ you can see where the inspiration for this track came from. Alex has dropped out a rich funky jacking house cut here with plenty of flavour as colourful as the EP cover. It’s full of old school sounds and engraved with a seriously funky bass riff that will get your foot tapping. It’s all about the simple sharp percussion and slamming 4x4 beat that give this one an addictive edge to it. Things get a little bit sticky with his second track on the release ‘Cite’. There is a distorted male vocal sample jabbering away with a dubbed acid bass line and sharp riffs. The sound in here is deep and tech driven delivering a darker mood. Quite contrasting with the bright colours chosen for the cover this track is its jacking house siblings alter mood, locked away ready to be unleashed at 3am. When it comes to addictive house tracks, Alex Niggeman is building up quite a talent for it.

Conclusion:
It's a retrospective success for Alex with this new releases heavily inspired by the Chicago sound of the 80’s. For his second release on the Tsuba label, Alex has hit the sweet spot for me. Check these out!
