One of the sublabels of Misja Helsloot's Gesture Music brings us a brand new piece of energetic trance, made by two producers who've already made name with their Moonrush alias on Fenology. Let's find out what we're dealing with here!

Ron Creemers and Gaston Serpenti are the main producers behind 'Around You'. Last year they released 'Risky Business' on the Germany based Fenology label, which was received quite well. Things are really starting to gear up for them now, especially when seeing that they have remixes for Talla 2XLC, Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Woody van Eyden and Ferrin & Low in the pipeline, plus a special EP that will be out on Fenology somewhere in the near future.

A: Original Moonrush Mix
Relying on thick bassdrums, driving percussion and a deep, rolling bassline, this track catches your attention quite thoughtfully during its first parts by injecting a cool amount of agility into its body. Rapid yet subtle synthwork finds its place at the background, letting the tune gain just a little bit extra power, which is being amplified even more by a quite catchy set of bell-like chords. The thick bassline does its work neatly, guiding you right into the main breakdown. A combination of calm strings and eerie FX arises first, but the real freaking out starts with the introduction of the main riff... At first, it has a more proggy vibe coming with it, but you know frenzy is coming when a great amount of energy is being pumped right into the sound spectrum. The melody itself is not too complicated, but in some way excels in combining a slick amount of emotion with a set of infectious chords and a drive that will certainly work out neatly on the dancefloor. A very dynamic trancer, thumbs up!
Rating: 8/10

B: Van Eyden & Creemers Remix
The producers behind this remix are Woody van Eyden, his studiopartner RuDee and Ron Creemers. They've made an interesting interpretation that differs a lot from the original, using a lower BPM, an overall deeper kind of vibe and a pulsating, stabbing phat bassline to complete the package. Slowly, multiple driving synths are being put on top of the track, combining pieces of the original melody with repetitive, more dark sounds. Variation is being kept at the highest level by the use of an array of cool effects, which eventually lead us into the breakdown. Slightly distorted pieces of melody take on a leading role, backed by a few percussional elements, a tone-changing bassline and a spooky version of a few of the main riff's chords. The nice thing about this remix is that the melody from the original has been altered in such a way that it makes friends with other accompanying melodies in no-time. Not a peaktime track, but definitely something that you could play at the beginning of a more deep trance set.
Rating: 7,5/10

Conclusion:
The producers show that they know how to grab one's attention by bringing a greatly energetic trancer that stands out from all the usual melo-dramatic breakdowns and big riffs. The original is a fully energetic driving piece of music with a killer hook that will surely set things on fire when played out live. The remix serves as a nice twist to the original, combining deep basslines with inventive approaches to all the melodies. All in all a wicked release, make sure you keep your eyes on Minddrive / Moonrush and their other aliases!
