The world is back to rights again as Ben Lost is now home where he belongs with Lost Language. With his new found passion for underground trance music he's mixed together the fifth edition in the labels 'Exhibition' compilation series...
If you’ve been a trance music fan for well over a decade you should be very familiar with the Lost Language label. Through all the changes on the label scene over the past few years they are still hard at it, even more so now its founding father Ben Lost has come back to the label after almost half a decade away. It wasn’t the label Ben fell out of love with, it was the music. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, as they old saying goes, and that has been the case with Ben as he has found his love for trance and progressive again. He’s well and truly back as the A&R man of Lost Language which one of his first major contributions is to give fresh life to its flagship compilation series, ‘Exhibition’.

If I have a spot through the old CD collection there are a few of the earlier releases in this series sitting there. The last time this compilation sought a release was as far back as 2006 and how the music scene has changed since then. One album from the series sitting proudly on the shelve is the very first album, which came in 2003 and had Solarstone on the mix as well as Ben. Over a decade on from that first release and a good 8 years after its last comes the fifth, which is a solo mix from Ben putting together the tracks which have made him passionate about trance and progressive music once again.
What you will find on the mix if fourteen tracks seamlessly blended in together with a tasty mix of progressive, uplift and acid elements. It’s got that Lost Language feel, as I remember artists like Tilt, Leama & Moor and Space Manoeuvres being a main draw from the label during the early part of the last decade. You will find that little reminiscence with a remix of one of the latter’s most iconic tracks ‘Stage One’ by Guy J. That’s the progressive mood this mix starts off with before things start to get ramped up with very classic spacey trance sounds edging on the psy style in parts. Its as a mix should be , drawing you in and then dropping in some uplift in serious style as it reaches its peak, which in this case is a thumping new mix from Activa of CM’s ‘Dream Universe’.
This for me is one of those compilations I put aside next to some of the very best. It’s got a little reminder of what trance music used to sound with the flavour of how it is today. This is no vocal driven cheesy tripe that every trance DJ puts in their playlists, this is down right good trance and progressive we all know Ben Lost for and are very grateful has found once again.
Conclusion:
This is one seriously good album and a fantastic way for Ben to return to the label in album form. His time away has done him no harm as hes back bigger and better than ever before with a fresh sound of trance that will put the hairs on end. Lost Language's best Exhibition mix so far and without doubt not the last.
