The Chemical Brothers will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their classic album ‘Surrender’ with expanded deluxe editions in a variety of formats…
The Chemical Brothers released their latest artist album a month or so ago and it was one which went back 20 years to use the production equipment they had with their very first albums. If you have yet to take the opportunity to listen to ‘No Geography’ then I would suggest you do as it’s an outstanding piece of Chemical Brothers magic.
One of their early albums which you may well be familiar with was one called ‘Surrender’. I remember it very well as it was one of the very first albums from the Brothers which made it into my CD collection, where it still sits there today. It was a very popular album for the Chemical Brothers and I do recall it even had a Brit Awards nomination back in 1999.
It’s been 20 years since the release of the album this year and the Brothers are putting out a few very special deluxe editions of it this October. The new re-issues will feature all the extended singles from the album and also feature the previously un released ‘Secret Psychedelic Mixes’ of the Surrender tracks. Not only that but there will be a DVD with footage from their 2000 Glastonbury performance and with certain editions two very limited colour 12” pressings of the original Electronic Battle Weapons 3 & 4.
For the Chemical Brother fan it’s just how big your wallet is as the 4 x LP version does come in at a hefty £100. The CD edition which features two discs is in a very accessible price range at £13 and well worth it, especially if you have fond memories of the album from back in the day.
