This first digital pop up shop they made drew a lot of attention, from inside but also outside of the music industry.
Now they have decided to launch a special business unit, dedicated to making digital pop up stores, also where people can pay with a tweet.
They named it Kwettr, the Dutch translation of the word Twitter.
Kwettr: the answer to the growing demand for temporary online stores
Kwettr, an initiative of record label Black Hole Recordings, makes and rents out online pop up stores where people can pay using Twitter. Kwettr is the answer to the growing demand for temporary online stores.
Main expertise is the #paywithatweet concept; visitors of a pop up store can ‘buy’ products by sending a tweet. No credit card or bank details needed.
A pop up store means no fixed costs, a shop is rented not bought. Companies do not have to operate the store; Kwettr manages customer service and product deliveries. Time or resources that normally are spent on operating an online store are taken over by Kwettr.
An online pop up store can be combined with Twitter advertising campaigns to grow the number of Twitter followers. “Kwettr came to life right after we opened the world’s first online record store in which people could pay with tweets” says Black Hole Recordings New Media Manager Bas Kruijssen. “Using a temporary digital store to sell tracks in return for tweets, resulted in attention from companies outside the music industry” Kruijssen continues. “Kwettr is the answer to the growing demand for temporary online stores.”
Kwettr pop up stores are made for all companies that use Twitter in their marketing activities. Kwettr delivers sales information of all customers that used #paywithatweet in a pop up store.
Services of Kwettr include personnel for the store, customer service, product deliveries, Twitter Ad Campaigns, data analysis, collecting marketing data and recommendations on how to improve activities on social media.
Digital pop up stores can be rent for a certain period of time, or until stock expires. Minimum rental period is one month, price is depending on the duration of the rental period.
