The young Discover Records hot shot, Andre Frauenstein, aka. Lostly, has on a relatively short time period gone from being a young, upcoming artist, to now being the head of A&R at the Discover Records label group, due to among other things, some solid single releases, great production skills and a great ear for good music and sounds...
To say his debut album is long anticipated, would be a huge understatement, but nonetheless, Lostly is now proud and ready to present to us ‘No Direction Home’. And Ivibes.nu is proud to be one of a few media to present an exclusive review for this album!

Lostly starts out with the energy filled, driving and delightful track ‘Slip Away’, where the recognizable and ‘special’ Lostly/Discover sound beautiful and catchy is a pervasive factor/sound throughout the track, a sound/quality that really succeed to spread a lovely warm feeling and happiness in your body, due to the way the track moves a long and develops with every little detail, twist and sound/fx. It just gets better and better with every beat, and it’s really a gorgeous opening for the album in my opinion! On ’Leaving Here’ Lostly then takes us a dip down in tempo and intensity, moving along with some more quiet, progressive trance paths, with deep, pumping and bulging compositions, combined with beautiful melodies, and great atmospheres and atmospheric details, that really succeeds to be perfectly ‘fold’ out and ‘shown’ by Lostly here. ’Goodbye’ takes us up again in bpm and heavenly trance atmospheres, where uplifting and very cool, ’swinging’ melodic trance notes and facets really fills out both the room and body and lets you trance away to beautiful paces. After this gorgeous start, we’re then graced with the first vocal track of the album, coming in form of ‘Jaded’ feat. Lucy Layton, and again, you just surrender yourself and note, that Lostly indeed also manages to succeed with vocals and trance together. Again you’re graced with that elegant, sweet, lush and unique Lostly ‘sound’, that beautifully surrounds the track and gives it a fantastic atmosphere, that only gets more power and intensity with the with the affectionate and amusing vocals from Lucy Laton.
Almost halfway, eloquently with allusion to the album title, we get ‘Almost Home’, where Andre again fondles our ears and senses, and once again moves us and the album off with yet another valuable and beautiful, detail-instrumental trance production, which in the breakdown, really impresses the listener, and very strongly shows us Lostly’s power to create/produce some really strong and beautiful themes/atmospheres with his genius skills! Then we’re taken ‘Up There’ feat. Jade Mc Donald, and yes, I must admit that we’re really flying up and onwards with this track. A beautiful crafted vocal track here, that hits you deep, with exhilarating feelings, and emotions. You’re just one BIG smile here!
The warm and delicate trance instrumental moods and passages then get even more solid strength, foundation and spotlight on the following productions, ‘Never Had You’, ‘Rains No More’, ‘Wait’ and ‘Never Forget’, and though you might think it sounds a bit boring with so many instrumental tracks, don’t worry, it’s quite opposite! That significant way in which Lostly succeeds to keep bringing in some new, fresh and catchy, almost beat by beat, is just simply delicious, gorgeous and unique in my eyes! There is a constant development and new details that open up with each listen. Really something that keeps the intensity and interest awake the whole time. He takes us up, up high, down, deep down, forward and backwards, and swirling and bold through a great jumble of trance, progressive, momentarily tech trance and scratchy, vibrant techno notes also, all stuff that just keeps you grooving and dancing.
We’re moving in on the last part of the album, and first we’re graced with ’Between Us’ which hammers and rumbles onwards, taking you on long bulging, pumping and energy filled, uplifting and dreaming trance passages and levels, while at the same time creating some heavenly atmospheres and feelings. Second to last, Lostly then takes, in my opinion, a surprisingly but very great turn, and serves us with the bleak, deep and heavy resounding techtrance/acid case, titled ‘Take This Acid’, and there’s nothing else you do but that, and with the lyrics ‘let’s get lost and take this acid!’ you’re completely sold and overtaken by a bloody brilliant techtrance/techno beast here! And after that delicious and overwhelming acid sounding ‘snack’, Lostly then put in the last trump with the title track, ‘No Direction Home’, which also surprises you, by blowing and sweeping you away on a slamming drum n’ bass production that really puts an unrivaled, bold and different but perfect end to the album.
Wow! I’m almost speechless here; this is genius and an absolutely brilliant album! I’m really excitedly with all the aspects here. The way every track is filled with emotion, love, care, and inspires you is magnificent. The details in every track with the atmospheres they produce is so gorgeous. You don’t get it better than this, and we’re only in the beginning of 2015, I have no doubt here; this is one of the BEST albums this year! DON’T miss it.
