 Steve Lawler will take his house music and VIVa brand over to Ibiza to grace the stage at Sankey’s brand spanking new venue every Wednesday starting next month…
From July 4th VIVa MUSiC and Steve Lawler will invite carefully selected guests to create a brand new date in the Ibizan clubbing calendar, an exciting new curation of electronic music at the islands freshest underground establishment, Sankeys.
Steve Lawler, who’s had a lengthy career deeply entwined in UK electronic music culture, has a triumphant 12 year residency held at Ibiza’s Space nightclub under his belt. This year, while still appearing for selected Kehakuma dates and of course the mighty Space opening and closing fiesta’s, it’s time for Lawler to leave his own stamp of individuality on the island with an inspiring concept that plays homage to the 1979 cult thriller ‘The Warriors’.
The legendary institution that is Sankeys has made a name for itself in Manchester showcasing some of the worlds best DJs; they’ve now placed themselves as one of very few intimate and truly underground spaces in Ibiza. In this respect, the club makes for a great partnership with the VIVA Warriors crew, playing the perfect part in setting the scenes, creating the home turf for Steve, and exciting names such as, Guti, Onur Ozer, Livio&Roby, alongside house connoisseurs Sacha Dive, Frank Roger and of course VIVa Music’s own Darius Syrossian.
Having approached some of his closest friends and colleagues, Steve is set to bring a crew of DJs with a mix of skills and talents. Also teaming up with exciting local ibicican artists to complete the raw graphical identity of the night.
As Steve Lawler pursues a persisted creative vision encompassing a new level of both music and visual direction, close label friends M.A.N.D.Y. Tiefshcwarz, Steve Bug, Martinez, Derrick Carter and Detroit legend Kevin Saunderson, to name but a few, step up in prolific tradition giving nod to Steve’s house music roots. This summer, VIVa Warriors assembles vivid reminders of classic sounds that still manage to sound perpetually like the future.
“I’m very excited about our VIVa MUSiC residency titled VIVa Warriors this year at the new Sankeys in Ibiza. I played the closing last year and it was incredible. The tight intimate room exudes an amazing intimate atmosphere. The club has a great sound system and lights in a Square dark room and honestly in my opinion is now really one of only two real underground options in Ibiza. I’m very happy we could secure a residency there for the more discerning cliental who want to party in a more intimate underground setting in Ibiza. Let the party begin” – Steve Lawler.
VIVa MUSiC has been known for breaking new talent onto the scene, while still culminating all that has gone before. The vision here once again is clear in pushing the highest quality house music to the forefront and recognising the legends of the scene. Steveʼs passion for house, techno and electronica is too strong for one simple generic association, so his new residency paves the way for a chapter of nights that explore music from artists that cross the boarders of the above genres and allow for his drive, creativity and passion for performing to run free.
