© ArmadaHaving been one of the most iconic independent labels on the planet run by the mighty Paul van Dyk the white and blue sleeves have joined up with Armin van Buuren's Armada network...

In a deal that took everyone by surprise Paul van Dyk has taken his VANDIT Records label and joined up with Armada in one of the biggest dance music ventures in recent years. Both labels are home to two of the industries biggest and most established DJ's and producers. Paul van Dyk is the man behind VANDIT, which celebrate its 100th release this year and its 10 year anniversary with a series of huge club nights. Armada is the home of Armin van Buuren and is a label that already has an impressive catalogue of labels like Captivating Sounds, Club Elite, Magic Island, Coldharbour Recordings and Subculture. That means on their books they have the likes of M.I.K.E., Markus Schulz, John O'Callaghan, Roger Shah and now add Paul van Dyk to that list. This is a truly landmark deal with two global power houses in the electronic dance music industry putting their heads together.

The specifics of the deal we may never know, just who now has the power of VANDIT, Paul van Dyk or the marketing team over at Armada? The joint venture raises many questions but I am sure that with the quality of the music that is coming your way you won't really give a dam about the answers. Things on the marketing front have been very quiet for VANDIT in recent months and this is the reason why we have not had a new VANDIT release recently. It's a great move for Armada, adding one of the pioneers within the industry to their already prestigious brand featuring the biggest names in trance, house and everything electronic. Who knows, we may see an Armin and Paul van Dyk collaboration in the future. Germany meets Holland in a music sense; probably a good job the Spanish beat the German’s this week to avoid any office rivalries between the two.

The news was broken through the Armada’s web site and Paul’s very own online home and here is the official press release:

The summer of 2010 brings us some very exciting news. It is with great honour that we announce the joint venture of Paul van Dyk’s legendary VANDIT Records with Armada Music! With a burgeoning release schedule for 2010 and 2011 already in place, the Berlin-based VANDIT team will remain responsible for the label’s A&R and artist development, as both entities prepare to take the imprint into the next decade.

VANDIT is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary with a series of releases and a worldwide arena tour, being the home base to artists including Paul van Dyk, Filo & Peri, The Thrillseekers, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Kuffdam, Giuseppe Ottaviani and Jon O’Bir. The first major releases after the joint venture will be the ‘VANDIT 10th Anniversary’ compilation, which includes Paul van Dyk’s ‘We Come Together’ single and Filo & Peri’s ‘This Night’.

VANDIT Records was established by renowned German DJ/producer Paul van Dyk in 2000 and has become a go-to label for electronic music fans. The label has released classics including Paul van Dyk’s ‘For An Angel’, Reflekt’s ‘Need To Feel Loved’ and Ralphie B’s ‘Massive’. 100 VANDIT releases and more than 200 tracks of the VANDIT Digital sub-label back catalogue will be exploited by Armada Music. Fans of the VANDIT sound have more than plenty of good stuff to look forward to.

Paul van Dyk, managing director of VANDIT: “Two power houses of electronic music join forces. The symbiosis of creative power, expertise and market impact by VANDIT and Armada Music will set a new milestone in electronic music”.

Maykel Piron, Managing Director of Armada Music: ”For 10 years, VANDIT has been releasing high quality music. It’s a great honour to continue building up this fantastic brand together with Paul and his team.”
What will become of VANDIT Digital you may ask? My feeling is that it will merge into the main VANDIT label as for now the Armada site only has VANDIT on the label page. I may be wrong but only time will tell. We await the next VANDIT release, which will be coming through Armada with great anticipation!
