The latest release on Lange Recordings has been unleashed with a debut on the label from Ben Preston. It's a bit of a mixture of house and trance but there is a remix in here that will blow your mind...
The man Lange may have been around the music scene for well over ten years but his in house record label is fairly new. This is only the label’s 20th release since its birth and it’s the debut on the label for Ben Preston. An upcoming 21 year old from the UK that has had releases signed by Tiesto for his own label and this latest track has been in the playlist of Paul van Dyk in recent weeks. The choice is yours weather you like it or not (See what I’ve done there?) but I think you will.
:: Original Mix :: PoisonPro Made The Right Choice Remix :: Erol Waves Remix
The Original mix is a fairly straightforward track blending a little progressive house and trance together to create a free flowing record that’s no nonsense. Hard, fast and pounding are not words you will be thinking when you hear this mix. More layered, simplistic and simple melodies that retain your interest. The Piano keys are used in good effect right at the beginning when feeding in the main beat. The beat is pretty simple but nice and tidy with the main hook in here feeling a little lacklustre at first but complemented when everything fits together. There is not much to go wrong in here with the main break fusing echoed keys that have that metallic dripped water sound to them. The lead comes from the Piano keys and backing percussion that feed the beat back in. It’s a simple track that’s got nothing bad about it but is just asking for a good remix.
Abracadabra! Here is that remix in the form of PoisonPro, who has taken on board the flow of the original and injected some spice to give it that extra kick. It’s like they have taken a simple sponge base, nothing wrong with it but just not lacking that punch and gone to work with the flavour. The remix edges a little of the electro sound but with real grit on the bassline. The beat is deep and punchy with good help from subtle kicks and snares. The keys that kick in on the break have that added extra about them and the bassline gives out a thunderous deep rumble. The breaks cut in right on the dollar and are built up and down superbly. The sound in here is rough and electrifying with the main melody grabbing your attention and keeping it.
Erol Waves slips in with the most progressive mix of the lot here. It’s one that takes its time to get going but mixed into the blend of techno and tinny percussion is a big atmospheric breakdown. The mix tends to shuffle itself along until the main break which is one wave of deeply electronic bursts fed in from almost silence powered by techy keys that fade into the break. Not a mix that really did anything for me but one tech heads will really get into.
Conclusion:
When I first heard this track I just felt something was missing but thanks to a superb remix by PoisonPro that absconding element has been found. The original is solid but not groundbreaking with Erol's techno influenced mix one for those looking for something different.
