© Menno de JongHere's Intuition Recordings' latest batch of news and happenings...

ONE NIGHT, ONE DJ: MENNO SOLO

On Saturday the 8th of November 2008 Menno de Jong will present his first true solo appearance. In the Westerunie in Amsterdam the night will be guided by the sound of Menno de Jong, a truly spectacular event with an extended DJ set.

Menno is approaching his 10th year as a trance DJ, which has lead to many beautiful things. He once started out in local small venues but can now be found on key festivals such as Mysteryland, Trance Energy, Electric Daisy Carnival, Sunrise Festival, Love Parade, Nature One and Mayday. His productions are regularly played in the sets and radio shows of internationally renowned DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Paul Van Dyk, Fe rry Corsten and many others. In the past years Menno has developed a solid fan base that regularly attend his performances at clubs and festivals. His gigs in every corner of the world have resulted in a 62nd position in the DJ Mag Top 100 of 2007, and a 10th position in the TranceAddict Top 250 of that year.

Intuition Recordings has in the meantime developed into one of the key Trance & Progressive labels in the scene, and has helped Menno propel into the top of the DJ elite. The events department has organized concepts such as the Intuition Winter and Summer Festival and Intuition Invites, with high-profile guests such as Markus Schulz and Above & Beyond.
Menno’s Intuition Podcast has also created havoc in the music scene. Multiple ten thousands of listeners tune in through his website, iTunes, SlamFM, XM Radio (USA) and ETN.fm to enjoy his sublime mixing and track selection. The Podcast enjoys a firm presence in the iTunes top music podcasts and is downloaded from Trinidad to Tokyo.

Plenty of reasons for Menno to present a solo session! The location is also notable; the Westerunie on the Westergas terrain in Amsterdam is a beautiful intimate, factory-like venue that will perfectly suit this event. Don’t miss this unique chance to hear Menno’s latest studio work, the newest Intuition Recordings releases and experience an astonishing laser and light-show.

The event is currently scheduled to take place between 22:00 and 04:00, a special permit to continue until 06:00 has been requested from the authorities however. The final verdict will be announced 3 weeks in advance.

Tickets are €12,95 in presale and available via www.intuitionevents.com and www.aldaevents.com

INTUITION AMSTERDAM DANCE EVENT SHOWCASE

This October the 13th edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event, the world’s biggest club festival with more than 700 DJs playing in 40 different clubs, will take place. The official opening is on Wednesday the 22nd of October and from Wednesday to Sunday several big brands and DJs will be hosting clubnights. On Saturday the 25th of October Intuition Recordings will be teaming up with The Groove Collection to host the Escape Studio and Lounge.

Intuition Recordings will be hosting the Escape Studio. Lastly a special guest will be gracing the decks: Nic Chagall of Cosmic Gate. His sound is a welcome addition to this intimate event, and will provide a pleasant contrast with his sets at bigger festivals such as Mysteryland and Trance Energy.

The Groove Collection will cater the musically deeper end of this night in the Escape Lounge, providing some dirty house beats, smooth progressive and quality tech-house. They have invited several names from the Proton Radio to perform, one of which is a very special guest from the UK: Jody Wisternoff from Way Out West. The Belgian Pole Folder will also be playing his latest work, as well as Dutch masterminds Fountain & Jerry van Schie, as well as Eelke Kleijn, who recently performed at Dance Valley.

DOWN AT THE PUB WITH... MENNO DE JONG

Recently Menno had the pleasure of being interviewed by the mother ship of all Trance sites: Trance.nu. DJ Mag’s very own Tim Stark fired a series of rather interesting questions at Menno to get an idea of what he is like ‘behind the scenes’. You’re catching our drift indeed, this is not the usual interview and probably a good laugh to read!

OUT NOW ON INTUITION RECORDINGS: ORJAN - VILLA BLANCA / SOULFLAYER

After a long silence Orjan is back on Intuition Recordings. Having recently released the massive “La Guitarra” under his full name Orjan Nilsen, he now follows up with the label that was once one of the first to discover his unique production skills. In 2004 Intuition Recordings signed his EP “Arctic Globe” & “Prison Break” as the fifth release on the young talent stronghold.
Whilst sticking to his trance roots with the remarkably energetic “Soulflayer” he now also hits us up with his unique take on Neo Trance. “Villa Blanca” is a groovy and chunky beast of a track with a dark and melancholic melody, caned amongst others by Tech master Sander van Doorn and Intuition head honcho Menno de Jong. “Soulflayer” has been played in Armin van Buuren’s ‘A State of Trance’ twice already, and is no stranger to the flying Dutchman’s live sets. Enjoy another quality release on Holland’s’ most dedicated trance entity!

Intuition Deep sees the release of a true Deep Trance EP with ‘The Night Before’ and ‘Sunday Morning Walk’. Canadian based Arney can claim unconditional support from the likes of Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Menno de Jong, Marco V, Sander van Doorn, Cosmic Gate as well as more unconventional names such as Laurent Garnier and Sasha.
