Fresh from his killer remix of Dubfire's ‘Roadkill’ arrives a brand new release from Breakfast with two delicious tracks to be released on Ferry's Flashover Recordings label.
For those who do not know, including myself until a few minutes before having a listen to these new tracks, Casey Keyworth is the man behind the Breakfast alias and this is his fourth release on Flashover. Just to clean up a rumour he is not planning on any new release using the alias dinner or tea! You may well know the name from his remix of Dubfire's 'Roadkill' record which has been massive throughout the summer of this year. His latest release is a features two brand spanking new tracks with that Ferry trance sound.
:: The Horizon :: Dancing In The Moonlight Both records on this release are a good ten minutes long but you can find different styles within each. The Horizon is the first of the two that took my eye as its been featured on Ferry's radio show a few times. The beat is deep and soft with brushed pads and synths sweeping from the start. The initial break brings in a tidy little rhythm that sets up the rest of the record. The beat comes back to leave the pattern faded but still prominent in the background. It builds and sweeps into the foreground with various beat cuts and a chime plays along with it. That chime is a set up for the main melody that comes exploding in after the main break in the track where the sound stops then gathered loudness and sweeps along. The lead in the break sweeps around in the background then he beat and groove pound back in with the that leading melody layering over the top. You could put this track into the progressive euphoric pile with its sweeping sounds and excellent tone changing melody.
Dancing In The Moonlight has the same vibe about it as the Horizon but starts off with a more thicker beat and less splashed out symbol kicks. The same atmospheric sweeps are in here with give the track that hidden depth with small melodies coming from the distance to layer into the foreground. The groove building in the distance here low end is layer over sweeping synths and an ever pounding punchy beat. This track is a little more in the euphoric stakes with his build up melodies. The lead melody in here gets started early with a piano style sequence that plays into the main beat break and morphs into the main melody at the heart of the track. It's built up very nicely and offers a relaxing and laid back melody over a progressive ten minutes. The groove in the distance is sure to work well on a big system with its low end changes and timing with the foreground sound.
Conclusion:
Describing these ones from Breakfast does not really do it justice as listening to them is where the real understanding of the tracks lies. Two very solid releases here with The Horizon being a bit more in your face when it comes to main melody stakes and Dancing In The Moonlight offering that progressive build. I'm sure you will hear these in Ferry's sets as well as many other big name jocks. This is a good release from Breakfast.
