Sied van Riel's name is popping up more and more these days. His latest appearance is on the very well known and highly regarded Liquid Recordings. Leon Bolier is on hand to provide a techy remix...
:: Sied van Riel - Sigh :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ073
1) Sigh (Original Mix) Van Riel's original is very clearly produced in his own distinctive style. He has a fine talent for smooth, progressive sounds and this one is no execption. Soft, deliberate basses are used to guide the track and persistent, slowly but ever growing synths provide continuous support up and into the breakdown. This is where the synth parts take on more of a lead, helped along by a casual breakbeat. This part of the track actually becomes incredibly engrossing - the sounds are smooth and pure and they allow you to easily drift away with them. After this delicious section, the progressive nature of the track is demonstrated as the sounds are cut back and you started the build up again, hitting another short melodic section before it's time for things to wind down.
2) Sigh (Leon Bolier Remix) Leon has spiced this track up with a mean, rolling and rhythmic beat. Sharp percussion and a wicked, totally groovy bass synth enrich this, immediately producing some really addictive initial sections. The melody is introduced in the breakdown and its soft, gentle tones are a good contrast to the stark, rhythmic bite of the main passages. The melody is also blended in later on in the track once it is re-established and the results are a joy to listen to. A great balance has been reached between many subtle synth parts and an underlying techy drive.
Conclusion:
A very enjoyable release from two distinct angles. The original mix is clean and clear progressive trance whilst Leon Bolier puts in a masterful tech based remix without overpowering the original's delicate essence.
