After providing the opening release on the quality E-TCR label, JPL is back again with 'Ilmola'. Remixes come courtesy of Leon Bolier and Antidite with support coming from Ferry Corsten and Above & Beyond. Check it out...

1) Ilmola (Original Mix)

After a gentle, trancey progression at the start, the tune quickly envelopes you as some sickly sweet and soft synths appear and lay on some really nice chord changes. This excellent little attention grabber pulls you into an early icey cool breakdown where a lot of the melodic elements of this track are built upon and substantialised. Breakbeats further enhance the calm aspect of the production, but these quickly lead back into the main portions of the production. A clear and well defined lead cuts through the quality, thick and trancey sound to take the reigns. Aside from this excellent leading sound, a lot of this production's qualities lie with the superb backing synths which lay on some great chords in a fantastic trancey sound which is thick, smooth and luxurious. Very high quality trance here.

2) Ilmola (Leon Bolier Remix)
Leon Bolier has produced something with a much stronger sound. The percussion is very distinct, the bass is lively and the kick is strong and punchy. The clear, lead synth is back again doing another fine job in leading the track along and into the breakdown. Coming out of the breakdown is a different story though. This is where Leon's techy mastery comes into play and we hear a strongly stabbed rhythm take the lead instead. The effect is very powerful indeed, with the main focus on drive and power rather than melodic prowess. However, the lead synth gets the final say, as it has a few more patterns to play through before it takes the track into its final stages.

3) Ilmola (Antidote's Darkroom Remix)
Antidote dishes out a truely deep and proggy remix here. The beats are thick and chunky, the synths distant and eerie and they play delicately on the main melody. There is a huge breakdown in the middle of the track which in turn leads into a beat driven section which is surprisingly dark and almost sinister. It never gives in and pushes on tirelessly to satisfy the proggiest of floors out there.

Conclusion:
Another production for JPL, another winning release for E-TCR. Highlights have to be the super smooth traniciness of the original and the driving techy edge provided by Leon Boiler. An excellent release!
