No Escape 2004 (Original)
With all the plethora of 'summer' tunes about, you'd think that there'd be 12 hours of sun and 30 degree days all year round, but unless you're very lucky this won't happen, and we get as much darkness as light. With this in mind, Dave has produced an excellent remix ready for those dark nights, with a dark eerie sound to go with it. The kick is very strong and helps drive the track along, with a lovely haunting pad accompanied by an equally dark melody, progressing down supremely. An evil sounding vocal informs us that we have no escape and the track picks up even more to the higher points, successfully maintaining momentum throughout. There is a certain 'feeling' to this track that I get, reminding me of Green Martian tunes, such as Industry or Electronic Fantastic, and that is definitely a compliment to this tune. Best played very loud, and late at night... 9/10
No Escape 2004 (MK-S Remix)
Just when you think it's safe to come out, flip this record over and you have a remix from Gloucesters' own Mike Smith, better known as MK-S. Much more percussive in the start, it takes a while to build up in this version, and is nice to have two tunes that don't start too similar, giving us a great variety. The pad seemingly whistles in the background, as a dainty melody plays over the top of it, much softer than before, but hauntingly beautiful. When the main section is upon us, there is a great feeling in the track, evil yet oddly quaint. The progression of the melody helps mainly in both instances to keep the track from sounding tacky, each chord change is as striking as the previous one. Overall a great remix from Mike that has to be heard to be appreciated, words can't do it full justice. 9/10
Conclusion:
Chillingly beautiful, both versions have major plus points, and not much on the minus scale. Definitely one to own if you want a nice original piece of trance!
