Arriving shortly on Liquid's White Label imprint will be the simply titled 'House Music' by Code 1. Is it just house music, or is it something more? Read on!
A mysterious alias and an equally mysterious track title don't give much away about this one. Heres what we do know. Its tech-trance, remixed by one of the most exciting names at the moment in hard and techy trance - Sam Sharp - also featuring an S.V.Dub alongside the Original. You'll be seeing this one appear on the 27th September.

A: House Music (Sam Sharp Remix)
This remix displays several of Sam Sharp's trademark remix/production traits. You immediately notice the rounded and pulsating bassline which rolls along untroubled by anything else. The smooth and even layer of shakey-tapping percussion is also evident. More familiarity is found during the breakdowns where scratchy, coarse synths start to stab their way into the track. There are also, deeper and darker stabs every now and then. However, the sound thats created isn't the usual tense and forbidding sound we're used to - this time its more laid back. Theres a definite feeling of progression and vastness about the track. One last touch is the use of a simple vocal. A deep and echoed male voice says "House music." at keys points, usually accompanied by an array of gurgling sfx. Progressive and techy stuff getting pretty close to house without actually being house.
B1: House Music (S.V.Dub)
The S.V.Dub of 'House Music' is more simplistic in some ways than the Sam Sharp Remix. At the same time though, it utilises a lot of different sounds. The main one is a deep and gruff sounding (Mr. Ozio style?!) bassline which churns away fairly quietly in the background. The kick is strong and chunky and is replaced by a quieter but distorted - in an almost hardstyle fashion - kick when the breaks come about. The same scratchy coarse synths are used to add in the techy stabs that make up the main essence of the track. The "House music." vocal also features loads more in this remixes and even though it is used a lot, doesn't wear thin as it characterizes (literally!) the track. Housier but a lot darker too than the Sam Sharp Remix
B2: House Music (Original)
You can't deny it here, the original, stowed away on the B2 side of the vinyl is a house track. It has a jiggly and cheeky sounding little beat with wooden type percussion and taught snares and hats. Again the (mostly untouched) vocal is used a lot, especially to bring in and introduce the track and its sub-sections. The thing that doesn't change though, is the lead synth, still as scratchy and coarse as ever, characterizing the track, albeit in a much simpler manner this time round. Its back to basics here, plain and simple house with a synthy twist.
Conclusion:
The name (almost!) says it all really - 'House Music'. The Sam Sharp Remix and S.V.Dub are both techy tracks which have a more progressive feel though they are kept interesting by the synth thats used. Sam's remix is more driving whereas the S.V.Dub is laid back and moodier. Another thing that you'll notice is the length of these tracks - the Original weighs in at 8:28 while Sam Sharps version is a massive 9:17! This is definitely one to try out though if you're thinking of experimenting and widening your genre usage without initially straying too far away!
