 Frankie Knuckles is the Godfather of House music and he has been given a tremendous honor by the City of Chicago, it involves a street named after him and a Frankie Knuckles Day. What's this all about?
Frankie Knuckles who is considered by most to be the Godfather of House music, the man who really gave house, its name after his legendary deejay gigs at the Warehouse. Well Frankie Knuckles has been given a tremendous honor by the city that he loves so dearly. The mayor of Chicago Richard.M.Daley has declared Wednesday, August 25th.2004 to be "Frankie Knuckles Day", not bad for a guy who started out as the guy who kept spiking the punch at early NYC parties. The day is just getting started, Frankie Knuckles has had a first for any deejay in the world, he has had a street named after him and that will take place on August 25th.2004 at Noon, the street called Jefferson Street will be renamed "Frankie Knuckles Way" and the party will start outside the legendary Warehouse club. Frankie Knuckles's day is not over, even with a day named in his honor and a street named after him, the day will end with two things, one will be a presentation by a politician to him at 6:30pm and then right after that happens, he will play a set at Chicago's Summer Dance Event (held at the Spirit of Music Garden). It is about time that Chicago did something for the man who put the house music on the map. Congrats to Frankie Knuckles for this tremendous honor, it has been a long time coming for you but you frankly deserve that and more, you put House on the map and without that, techno would not have happened as it did and then trance would not have followed.
