The latest saga in the Nu-Nrg epic of 2001 and 2002 are these remixes of Germany produced Believe, by Sunblind, which caused a huge stir on both sides of the Atlantic. Haven't heard it yet? Well you have been missing out.
The latest remixes from Nu Nrg aka Andrea Ribeca & Giuseppe Ottaviani is a production of the highest quality from an act calling themselves "Sunblind", which consist of Marco Wolters, Christian Schnettelker, Tobias Dannappel & Frank Schmidt.

I have put the 2 Nu Nrg mixes together because one is effectively just an extended remix of the other, pulling in at 6:30 and 3:30 minutes respectively.
When I first saw this track, it seemed like any other release from Germany's Extra Wild label over the past year or so, but thinking about it, Nu Nrg's remix of "Marinero" came out not too long ago on the same label, so I gave it a closer look and surprise surprise, we have Nu Nrg on the remix action here.
Starting off in a smoldering pumping trance bassline and rolling thuds and a superb vocal background, we have what seemed like a typical German vocal trance track, one which would have come from Cosmic Gate or Pulsedriver or similar, but as we progress, the Nu Nrg sound is obvious. Driving beats up and down your speakers, before breaking down into one of the most glorifying breakdowns I have heard this year.
It seems like Nu Nrg have a talent of creating those massively euphoric basslines in most of their productions which attract me back again and again to their productions and remixes. This breakdown is no exception to that rule and put on about -10db in a wide open space with 10,000 clubbers would definitely bring the roof down with a thud.
Euphoria, Percussive Instrumentals and liberating vocal talents from April McCoy make this a true wonder, well worth your money.
Original & Extended Mixes
If and when you buy this release, make sure you listen to the Original and Extended remixes before putting your needle to the remixes, in order to appreciate the track. Personally, when i bought it, I immediately turned to the remixes and to the magnificent breakdowns. But if you proceed on doing that, you may find that the original and extended mixes are plain and boring, with no disrespect to the producers.
A mellower affair, verging on Ibizan style trance or progressive house, this is definitely a chilled trancer with vocals, but if you are into the Nu Nrg sound, I feel you will definitely be disappointed. Personally, I believe this to be a good production from the start, but the fact that there were a couple of Nu Nrg remixes on the back of this seems to dwarf the production.
Overall, the release gets a good 8.5 out of 10, but 10 out of 10 for the remixes, just because they are magnificent and no other reason.
A little biased? well perhaps, but I guess you'll have to buy the release to find out!
