I never listened to this band.
Should I have? Are they good?

I have always liked most of Thomas Bangalter & co's productions and remixes under the Daft Punk quise. Just works for me. The first album Homework (incl. Around The World) is by far their best IMO.
Latest i've heard from them, is their remix of Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out.

The first album (Homework) is really good, with some track like "Rollin' and Scratchin", "Around the World", "Burnin", really floorkiller...
And their last "discovery" is mediocre, "one more time" is like an italo-dance hit for me...

| Clever stuff and one or two tracks stand out. But I find Daft Punk quite difficult to listen to... especially for long periods of time or at high volume.

Daft Punk is a great French duo (if I'm not mistaken)! I like most of their tracks, but they have at least one terrible track (I think it is "Da Funk") I won't listen to again....

I like their music, and though some of their songs have been overplayed, I still enjoy a lot of their tracks.

| If you like Daft Punk, you should listen to the productions of the label "Crydamoure", quality French House (with some guest like Jan Johnston or Dj Sneak). That's Guy-Manuel Homem-Christo (one of the both Daft Punk) and Dj Rico who have found this tune factory...

Daft Punk are pretty sick, Around the World is a good song, but i was kinda appaled by their remix of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out, it sounds exactly the same except with a bit of dodgy feedback.

I liked Discovery a lot more than Homework. I felt it was a progression and yet a regression at the same time -- chronological-wise, which really startled and amazed me. I found Homework on the whole to be too repetitive. Discovery had some tracks I wish were edited shorter, but heck, that's what radio edits are for. I really enjoyed the Interstella 555 anime video that was done using all of Discovery as a soundtrack. I don't know if the album was originally conceived this way (I don't think so), but I found it masterful and engaging, a great method of wordless storytelling and perhaps telling of our current music media environment.
Above all, like the Chemical Bros. and Orbital and other great electronic music duos, Daft Punk are unique and stand alone in their own right. One of the few who've got the vocoder down to an art.

| Daft punk is quality music. Their song Aerodynamic is awesome. "I though All Around the World" was corny.
