Post Post subject: A Question I Need Help With!!! Reply with quote

Last week I purchased a pair of Stanton STR8-80 direct drive turntables!

I have a question to you out there, so here goes:

Ok, the strobe illuminator tells you whether or not your platter is playing at the displayed speed when the pitch is adjusted, based on the flow of the strobe. If it flows righ (anti-clockwise) then the platter is spinning slower than the displayed speed, and if it flows left, the platter is spinning faster than the displayed speed.

My question is, how do you adjust this, so that the strobe does not flow in any direction, to ensure that your platter is spinning at exactly the speed displayed?

Thank you.

These are the tables I was going to get a few months ago but decieded to opt for some Tech's.

Not sure on your question but have you tried looking on the Stanton web site and usergroups for topics on the subject that might be able to help?

If you mean the dots on the edge of the platter then surely they'll only remain still when at 0% pitch, or at one or two other pitches (like +/- 3% and 6% on Technics)?

It's pretty common for decks to come under the factory settings, where the pitch is different from what it should be (usually on the slower side.) Technic mk2's for example obviously range +- 8, but the factory set it so that in actual fact you have a pitch of +-6 ish... It's stupid I know. I only know how to fix this with technics, but i'm sure it's probably just the same. You can increase and decrease the pitch usually by a dial under the platter. However, this is really not something to be fucked with unless you know what your doing. Especially if your doing it on both your TT's as getting it the same for both is difficult. Also, be careful of doing this if you have a warranty as it will almost certainly void it if you go fiddling inside.

Try contacting Stanton or alternatively look to see if the stanton website has a message board where you can ask people who have done this before.
