New Album From Jam & Spoon

Even if it sounds clichéd: “Tripomatic Fairytales 3003” shows Jam & Spoon ahead of their time again — their visionary force has carried them a long way. The new album has no formula. It does not stick to dance or pop, but simply heads off on an exotic journey through beats and sounds. This record is about the possibilities of the future — exciting, colourful and open. And indeed, Jam El Mar and Mark Spoon, the brains behind Jam & Spoon, have taken something timeless from the future.

The new tracks on “Tripomatic Fairytales 2003” are born from the experiences of 13 years of working together and form something new and individual. The development that started back in 1997 on the previous album “Kaleidoscope” has now come into full fruition on the latest CD: The path, which the two electronic pioneers have taken, leads them away from repetitive, hypnotic tracks to masterfully structured songs without betraying the club-sound background. You notice this as soon as the opener, the majestic “Moment Gone”, takes off. An acoustic guitar line, composed by classically trained concert guitarist Rolf Ellmer alias Jam El Mar, creates a jazzy groove that carries the old club feeling to the inner mind of the listener. It is stimulated further when the often melancholic sounding voice of Plavka, which has already taken Jam & Spoon hits like “Right In The Night” to other spheres, enters and turns the song into a classic.

This will be quite a good album, these guys have been around since the beginning

I don't really like the album that much, only 2-3 tracks are really good IMO, the rest below average and/or too poppy or otherwise just not my taste.

They have come far from the greatness of their Tripomatic Fairytales 2001 (trance) and 2002 (ambient) albums, both dating back to 1993.

This album IMHO is the album of the year! Its great to see artists daring to take risks musically. There is so much variety on this album but is held together by the classic Jam and Spoon sound. The last track on the album 'Junoon' is just awesome and is unlike anything i've heard.
