Hey,

Can somebody tell me why most sites insist on not letting us use download managers

Probably cause someone could line up hundreds of downloads one after another, and the servers could accuse the site owners of exceeding traffic limits, and sometimes stop letting them use the servers, theres nothing wrong with waiting till u can download, the only problem is big downloads aren't possible on 56k modems with the usual 2 hour time outs, so programs like Gozilla are good if you need to resume, thats also what makes audiogalaxy more accessible to those users too. It took me about 10 hours to download a 90 minute ferry corsten set, but now on adsl I can do 200mb in easily an hour depending on where I'm downloading from. I guess if they ask you not to use download programs, then you just have to do as they say

Getright and GoZilla are fine.

But if you use something like Download Accelerator, then that's crossing the line. Programs like these do what the others do, except that they download multiple segments of the file at the same time, so say you have it set to download 10 segements at the same time, that means you are using up 10 spots on their server, in which normally 9 other people would be able to use.
And even worse is I think you can set it to do 100s of segments. This is just wrong.

i remember when i had 56k :p but i went into windows regristry and change the timw out for the modem so i could dl for hours :)
i used to Dl GB's lol that was funny hehhe

lol me too, My bros still using a 56k on my old comp but I have 200 songs what I cannot get at, so If its possible on an aol dialler I can have my toons back
