Post Post subject: Is Online Music Dying?? -Lets get together! Reply with quote

With the recent closure of many top mp3 websites and the amount of current offline websites, is the online music dying? I really hope not. We need everyone to get together to make the music community online bigger and better than before!

We all miss shadow-zone that is the biiig one, but many many other smaller websites are closing. I feel that more people should get the iniative to start a new ERA in online music! Something new, something innovative... not just another website which starts up, gets popular and closes scenario.

JUST WHAT CAN WE DO??.... The only way we can defeat this is, as with music it also applied to the online music community DONT IMMITATE, INNOVATE

There are no limitations with what you can do with programming... Im sure someone can think up a new system to make online music bigger and better than before! So c'mon people are you with me?? LETS GET IT TOGETHER! new ideas! lets see em!

I chose the middle option here because all we need are people to setup private servers to host tunes on, then a good site could start. Coz its no use trying to use any web hosting companies as they have cracked down on high bandwidth and mp3 users.

nah, Online Music is still here..
we can still use search engines such as WinMX,KaZaAor even mIRC
so how is it dying?
- sure a lot of free Web Hosters/Space Providers have gone down like Geocities, Lycos and iDrive, XDrive; leaving us with less Web Space to upload our files..
- It's the sites that're dying.. the hope.
- bleh! i don't wanna get all emotional.. :p

we need 2 work on it more...i mean i was mad dat Napster shut-down, dat was da best site of mp3...nah Shadow-zone closen down as well, and Dj Mixes 2k had a server problem as well, a lot of ppl dont notice dat sites need server space and dats da issue all da time and mp3 r being suied by companies. Best wud be 2 get a legal site, which is totally leagal, but den again who's gonna wanna pay 4 da mp3's. Napster is suppose 2 come out in da first quarter of 2002. How is it gonna look like and act like? dont know yet, prolly have 2 pay 4 it Confused mp3 sites r dieing out, which is sad. A lot sites dat have problems, post there problems on da main page 4 ppl, 2 get ideas and try helpem. Da problem is dat, nobody cares, or misses da problems. Dat wud da first way of helping sites with problems, once its solved, dem we can get ideas, on making a better site, so we can no other problems in da future Smile

why shouldn't you pay for the MP3's? Why do you expect to get your music for free - isn't that the same as going into a record shop and STEALING a CD?

Yes well mp3.com shouldn't have started messing around with PAS or show unfriendly attitude towards artists. Many good artists quit mp3.com

If It wasn't for Mp3's I wouldn't know half as many songs, and I have been out and brought albums that I liked the sound of, so that in turn gets money for that. How about if top DJs got together and helped us download mp3's cos its all the more exposure for them, especially newer ones who are trying to break through. In fact I'm more likely to go an pay to see someone perform if I've heard previous material from them, we are in a world where the music companies try to tell us what is trendy, where mainstream radio shows choose the songs they play, and don't always play what the listener wants, what they don't like is us going out and making our own minds up. Only Limited Trance makes radio1 and its usually played so much that everyone imagines its all cheesy or something. Mp3's allow people to hear stuff and by doing so I bet a considerable amount of money is made by companies because someone hears a song, downloads it, and then goes out and buys it. And a lot of the stuff I download, I can't buy here anyway, tracks what don't make a uk release date on cd and the only way u get them is on mp3 or import. We all know the only reason that companies are complaining is because they want more money for themselves, but until I can go into any music shop and get the songs I want, at a price that doesn't suck, then I'll continue to use mp3's. And excuse me if I'm talking rubbish but I think that the only people to lose out if music sharing was made illegal would be the genuine people

Excellent point ferrycorstenfan!

There needs to be a movement among the people to help us defend ourselves from the anti mp3 organisations...
