It's not with the Beatles, it is over the people who hold the copyright to the Beatles songs (not really jay-z yet?, tho if it sold, he would sue). The remaining members of the Beatles still get royalties on the songs and the other songs are owned by Sony Music and Michael Jackson (who is about to sell his stake anyway due to money problems). The problem is that Sony is very, very protective with their music because it brings in a ton of money still to this day. People like Coldcut and others are laughing because they have used samples for yrs and never paid a soul.

It was bound to happen anyway i think it just depends who you sample off and the fact that he was sampling entire albums. I wonder if there will be any wider implications resulting from the outcoming of this anyway. I can just imagine everyone suing everyone else.

it goes to show how money and profits are seriously affecting the music industry, i think its a bit sad that people cant just enjoy the music without suing each other...
