Listen to Rob Dougan's "Clubbed to Death" (the one from The Matrix) from 2:55 to 3:22 (piano solo, right?)

Now listen to Delerium's "After All (Featuring Jael of Lunik) [Satoshi Tomiie Remix]" from 7:08 to 7:38 Sound familiar?! STUPID PLAGIARISING SATOSHI!

of course they're different! when you revise a tune, you slip in some harmonizing notes to make it a true "revision" of the original.
the amount of notes played is the same and the rhythm is sped up.
obviously it's a revision of the Clubbed to Death piano solo and it conveys the SAME emotions out of me in BOTH songs; so that's even my brain telling me it's the same.

They're similar, yes...but not the same. In all types of music, many songs have a similar "feel" to them, and it can be done totally on accident. And I think if you took a bit of a closer look at Tomiie's discography, you might find that he's done more for the scene than you know. Similarities can also happen on accident, or an artist can simply be inspired by another song, and try to capture the feel of the track on his own synth.

LOL! Yep. I got ideas of other revisions too!

Especially Linkin Park. Whenever I listen to Numb my brain naturally plays Pushing Me Away along with it during the chorus and it matches. I mixed the two in a sound editor and it was perfect LOL!
So Numb is a re-reanimation of Pushing Me Away really. They really changed the harmony of it though but you can tell it's derived.
