Post subject: Can someone learn me some basics of trance production? |
|
|
This topic looks kinda weird..
I'm producing for a year now but only experimenting..
i work for a label in america with my mate.. but i do the drum tracks..
and i also want to produce alone.. but i can't make it nice..
it always sounds empty. i produce trance..
A friend of my (Envio) told me to put some pads in it to fill it up..
and i need to make the bassline sound with the synth he told to not use
notes for a bassline.. but i dont know exactly what he means..
i just want to make my own tracks.. with good structure..
i hope someone has some time free for me to learn me how to start..
and what do do.. and how to do..
i work with fruityloops.

It sounds empty because you dont have enough of the sound frequency spectrum filled in your mixes. Pads will fill up alot of the empty space and make it sound fuller.
As for the bassline, I think he means ..not to have the notes jumping all over the place. Your bassline, in most cases, should compliment your kick. The should be one cohesive element and in most cases sit around the same frequency range. Usually once a solid kick and bass rythym made, its easy to start adding in other stuff like pads, synth leads , cymbals. Bottom line, it just takes time to get mixes sounding fat. The more you experiment the better your ears will get. Each month youll listen to a track you made a month ago and say.."gosh that sounds awful". But this is good because it means your ears are getting better and you cant start telling the difference now from whats good and not.
Also, read read read on how good tracks are made. Look at this site, it has great tutorials, heres a bassline tutorial:

good luck!

iVibes has a beginner's guide to reason - but that won't help you, will it.

i think stein bean just about summed it up!
it really comes down to getting to know how certain sounds should sound by trying diff things.
sound engineering courses arent cheap but can certainly teach you some vital stuff.
good use of reverb my man
and you need to know how to use compression
