Well,

When I first started to listen to trance, pvd was great,

but not one song of his the last 2 years, i loved

his only set that i still love this day, is his essential mix live @ home in london (in 2000 i believe)

I'm still new to PVD, I used to hate his songs. lol But I think he's trying to get intellectual and it's kind of losing people. Don't laugh. red face

I think most of his tracks nowadays are a bit average there not bad but they are missing something his best track was For An Angel.

at first PVD was very good, but a majority of his songs sounded too alike. now his songs are more different, and only a few stand out. over all i would say i like him the same but yeah his style over all is different.

man...i cant see how u say ferry is original and pvd isnt...
pvd is definately being at least slightly original - time of our lives was a collaboration with a rock group (vega 4), and while his sound is distinctly pvd, most of his songs are unique in some way.
ferry on the otherhand...his stuff is completely unconventional...the same stuff... never breaking new ground...he just pumps out the remixes, taking a song and pluggin it into his formula...
im being a bit a harse i spose...but i really think pvd is more original then ferry...

I dont think he has got better but he has keot the same style to his tunes. Simple riffs and thumping basslines in there. His latest album was very good, some tunes in there that where not as good as others, but still very good.

His livesets and track selections are still as good as they have ever been. Mayby folk are just too used to his style and find his latest stuff a bit un interesting.

hi all...new to this board...actually not totally new..been reading the posts for past few days..thought finally register and get on with it lol... PVD..i am new to his music..infact saw him live the first time last month at Koolhaus , Toronto party. he spun for 4 hrs , and was mind blowing. from start to finish he played some great tracks like wunderval , time of our lives , connected , for an angel etc. I was quite impressed. Then heard his Reflections cd , which is not as good as the previous ones like out there n back n such. But ppl say that he's trying to reinvent himself. so lets hope that change is for the better...

no way

I think hes producing some of his best work at the moment in the way of crush and some of his reworks

his album was very dissappointing, but in clubs pvd's work instantly rocks the place

a rare find among recent producers

Crush is a nice tune played at the regular speed, but I find just pitching it up by about 5-7 gives it a bit more appeal.

yup! he's in that experimental stage that all good artists seem to get into once they become famous. I can kind of understand where he's coming from though. I mean, once you perfect a particular sound you get bored of it and thus you want to perfect a new sound and push yourself to see how good you can get. Without an attempt to do so there would be no progression and the music, to him at least, would seem less meaningful.

PVD has decliened in greatness in my view Crying or Very sad I still love his live sets but his latest album is far from good, If Marco V hadnt remixed PVD`s Connected then I wouldnt love this tune like I do now!

I will never forget how PVD got me into dance music, one of the best and 1 of the first mixes I ever heard on the radio was PVD live in George square in 1998, although the mix was alittle short the tracks he played were brilliant!!!

Tracks were....

Another way
Blank and Jones - Cream (PVD mix)
PVD - Columbia
Unknown tune
PVD - For an Angel
CRW - I feel love

I got the mix on now to remind me of the good old days Cool

My fave PVD production is Binary Finary 1998 and BT vs PVD - Namistai

So very true.

Entering into different styles to produce the best in that style.

Well, I finally bought Reflections and was really disappointed, especially after having heard live sets from him. But I still love his remixes and am going to try other albums to see if they are any better.

if you really want mindblowing tracks form PVD, check out "Global" it's a milestone of his creation throughout the years, a celebration of his masterpiece, but dont expect that much, he uses the same music style from his first album 45rpm

Global is a good release but if like me you have all his previous albums and compilations then its not worth the money.

Reflections was a big dissapointment....for me at least.. The album that got me into DJing and Electronic Musik was OUT THERE AND BACK!!! PvD made that album by himself no engineer or help at all ... reflections is basically more collaberated stuff (Second Sun, DJ Tomekk, Hemstock & Jennings), but his remixes and re-edits haven't been that great either ....STARCHASER - FALLING STAR (PVD DUB) wasn't any different than the instrumental version. which is sad because PvD has done some Awesome Remixes in the past. Some of which not a lotta ppl heard SOUND DE-ZIGN - HAPPINESS being one of em and a lotta other unreleased stuff that should of gotten released instead of Reflections. I am still going back to the classic stuff..for me his new productions don't do it. I turn to His Awesome sets which have become almost FLAWLESS over the past couple years, in my opinion PvD is still good but he could of been a lot better had he produced another album like OTAB. Still better than Tiesto in my Opinion, compare OUT THERE AND BACK and PVD's REMIX's To anything Tiesto has ever done and then u will know who should truly be # 1. after all he is GOD Wink
