I began with Fruity and now i'm with Logic Audio + vst's and Reason (drum machine only)
Recommend to you to learn Logic. It's hard at first time, but then you'll be a KING!!!!!!! _________________ Music for Life, Not Life for Music!!! |

Beats are simple to actually make in a program like fruity, most trance tunes use 4/4 so every 4 put a beat & tweak the sound, then add hi-hat, claps, snares and anything else, but just play around a lot and you might get lucky or you could ask sum1 who knows what they're on with |

hmm if you havent ever seen anything production related or just starting out, then it might be difficult, you probably need to get round the concepts of music production
you cant just load up a program and just click a few buttons, and thats it, its more involved then that
and i dont think there is many if any conciise and complete or a total beginners guide/tutorials on how to make trance or similar music, online on the internet, in particulatr the production on the pc with certain softwares, if there is lemme know i would like to see it as well!!!!!!
http://www.computermusic.co.uk/tutorial/features.asp
theres quite a a few nice tutorials there about computer music production, in general you might find it usefull to read that!
http://www.reasonstation.net/tutorials/beginreason1.phtml
check that tutorial for reason titled "The Beginner's Reasoner - Part I"
probably might be of use, but see the first line of it?
"The best way to learn Reason is ...... do a cover. Seriously "
guess that explains what i tried to say, maybe
in general that site http://www.reasonstation.net/ and tutorial section is very good indeed, even for just general reading, and much more
and dont forget the tutorials/manuals that come with the prgrams! especially the reason one! makes a good starting point!!!!
i think they can be downloaded from here
http://www.propellerheads.se/downloads/docs/frame.html
and as for tutorials on beats, and other music structure, i think playing arround, or even trying similair stuff with, say from a well known tune, might one way of learning?
i think whatever you do, do not be constrained by any expectations or rules, i dont think there is a hard and fast way or set of rules to follow to make great music! playing arround, you never know as long as you feel your learning and it sounds nice to you, thats a step in the right direction!
and happy producing if any of you take it up, and i hope one day i start to play and produce maybe, _________________ Lost as in a dream
