i wanna know why american mtv doesnt play trance or any kind of electronica it's like ppl that listen to that dont exist for them.

Because MTV is mainstream and trance is not.

MTV Nordic, MTV Europe and MTV 2 sometimes have "dance-music-hours" where they play PvD etc.

it's all about the papers! if there is not enough fan base, there is not enough incentive to give it airtime. it's sad that way, but as well all know, they cater to the advertisers..

It's all about trend-setters. All big companies have analysts who finds out who are the "important" people in a population/school/block etc.
Then they find out what these "important" people like and create the music/clothes/food these people fancy.

Usually they go after the leaders of a gang...and maybe even sponsor them with free clothes and stuff for him/her to show to friends. Then those friends will go buy this stuff.

The most *beep* about this is that it is true!

they have mtv dance in uk but its pretty crap...fairly mainstream...although R MUZIK on Rapture TV has belta tunes on it and the majority of vids featured are non-mainstream...

in aust we get:
dancefloor charts- which is really mainstream songs.
the party-zone- which has a mix of everything once again fairly mainstream but u do often hear gouryella ect
and amp- only on tv once a week, this is once again mainstream shit

With music TV its all about the video. A lot of trance music never gets a video produced for the track, not unless its from a big artists or commercial artist. No video, no play.

Still, never watch MTV or any music TV so I'm not bothered.

Anyways, think about how the US feels about trance/dance music. They're passing laws now to stop the parties, wouldn't it be a bit of a mess if they started playing party music on the TV? grin

i dont watch mtv cuz there is nothing to watch and i dont listen to it cuz there is nothing to listen that i like.... i like viva tho but that's european and that's a whole different story....

Like many other said before, trance isnt mainstream.

But why I cant understand is why cant people listen to both mainstream and non?
Almost every non-mainstream listener bashes on mainstream and the mainstream listeners just dont know about other genres.
