Post Post subject: Help needed - I may have gotten ripped off Reply with quote

I would first like to introduce myself. My name's Nate and I have loved trance music ever since I first started listening to it a few years ago. However, I have now just started really getting into buying CDs and looking for specific artists and songs (as opposed to what I normally do, which is just download whatever I can find off the internet or other sources).

Recently I read the article posted on this site (great site, by the way) entitled "The 10 Most Influential Albums of the Past 10 Years" and I was happy to see 10 trance albums with a brief, but to-the-point review for each of them. I wrote all of them down on my list of "To Get" CDs.

Today, I went down to my local music shop and found quite a number of the albums that were listed in the article. Just going down the list, the first album I found was Nothern Exposure by Sasha and John Digweed. I picked it up, paid for it and immediately went home to listen to it.

However, as I came back to the site to ensure my purchase was correct, I noticed that the reviewers, trigaX and Kevin C, had mentioned details about a second CD that was included with the album. When I purchased the CD, though, it only came with one album (I'm guessing it is 0° North, as it has the songs on it that both of them mention on it).

I am quite pleased with this album as it's quite good... but I'd hate to think that I paid the price of a two CD album that only came with one CD. Should I take this CD back and tell them it should have come with two CDs, or did I purchase the wrong album? Or am I just missing something completely different here?

Just in case it might be the wrong CD, I will tell you what it looks like. The CD itself is white with blue text, and the CD case has a picture of a Polar bear laying on a glacier with the big text "Sasha and John Digweed - NORTHERN EXPOSURE" on it.

Thanks in advance.

-Nate

Thanks for replying.

Do you know when they might be on? I'm gonna take it back to the store if I should have gotten two CDs.

heh, ok ok, first things first you really didn't get ripped off, there are 2 versions of NE1

http://www.discogs.com/release/36165
2xcd in a glorious foldout digipak, intricate cardboard and plastic foldout package, containing discs 1 and 2, North 0° and South 0°

http://www.discogs.com/release/45123
and 1xcd in a ordianry plastic case just containing Disc 1, North 0°

some pic i found on the net somewhere of the 2xcd NE1, which was written in the article, unfortunatly this version is OOP (out of print) for quite a long time, hence most or if not any current stores will stock it, and on top of that, its fairly hard to come by, and with so many ppl wanting it/desiring it, only discovering about it now, after all those many years since its release in 1996, the price on that digipack is somewhat quite high, usually goes arround £60/$75 on ebay, dunno really price flucuates.

not sure if the single cd is a usa release or a general release, ive seen it about here too,

guess that digipack costed quite a bit to produce, and decided that on the repuation alone, just re-releasing disc 1 would be more than enough, since its the one that people most talk about!!

Wow... thanks for the detailed reply.

Man... it's a really good CD but I wish I had known about it being a two disc album before I bought it Confused . If I knew, I would have saved money to buy a "full" copy of it.

Anyway, thanks a lot Ami, for clearing this whole thing up. I appreciate it.
