Just wondering what you guys think, cause there's a wide range of opinions out there. I just got his new album Rush, and I have to say I rather like it.

To rate him on the cheese factor I'd put him on the same level as ATB. As for being commercial, he's an inbetween. I have to say that I am a fan of his stuff.

Ya know what the worst should have been? As commercial as Scooter!
I'm not really a fan of him... tho his last album was pretty good..

I'd actually hardly consider him commercial...the only reason the general public knows his work is because of Sandstorm and Feel the Beat (which they probably think of as the same song), and even then, most of them dont know either the title of the song, or the artist...his biggest his was the song that basically put trance into Americas clubs, but he hardly gets any recognition for it.
I'm not a fan of his work, but i DO own both his CDs...and i must say, he surprised me with Rush...still not really my thing, but still, a damn good job

As for being commercial, I think that it's great the Darude got the attention he did, especially here in the US where almost no one knows anything about trance. I remember when Sandstorm was getting a lot of airplay, my friends who were die-hard rap or rock fans were totally loving that song. Ever since then, a lot of them are much more open-minded about music, and a few of them even listen to trance regularly. Darude opened up a door in that perspective, he really introduced a lot of the American public to a whole new and unfamiliar style of music.
I like Darude's stuff. I've had Rush for a while now and it hasn't left my CD changer since I picked it up. It's some real good stuff.
So, in all, I give Darude a big thumbs-up.

Feel the Beat and Out of Control were VERY commercial, cause the videoclip was there BEFORE it was released on vinyl :S
That is very commercial I think

I love the Rush Album, close to the 'paul van dyk' sound.
Quality uplifting & melodic, would have been nice to have more variety though.

What surprised me about Rush is that it wasn't all radio friendly uplifting stuff - he even stuck some progressive on there, which was quite cool.

I like a lot of of his songs. I think that because he's really well know by ppl who aren't into trance that people who are into trance think he's mainstream.

his good looks get him a little further in my eyes
in all seriousness he has improved some what from his last album, i guess as an artist he is still growing and maturing

he has done a really bad remix of thrillseekers- synaestheia (Fly Away) (Darude Remix Radio Edit) (3:52)
done some others...not that good at all

Ah, Sandstorm. He's only commercial because of that. But lately I wouldn't consider him to be. I still hear Sandstorm once in a while on the radio though.

Pretty good point that, if you went and asked most folk for another production from him other than Sandstorm I doubt many would know one.

Blank & Jones - Beyond Time (Darude vs. JS16 Remix)
Barcode Brothers - Oooh Dooh (Darude vs, JS16 Remix)
I like both of these tracks.
