Dah, how many new features has this board gotten in a week!? lol
Evil people, making a poll like this. I love all kinds of electronic music, but I voted uplifting just cause it's what I get most of the time.
BTW, does anyone wanna clue me into what is makina? I'm most curious.

I would have to say either uplifting trance or progressive trance. Then I would say my next favorite genre would be drum n' bass.

Not really, it's kind of hard to explain the difference. I know that's a lame answer, but...
Prog is usually slower and doesn't have an identifiable melody to speak of. No main riff or lead sound or anything - it's more chilled out. It just generally flows along.
Maybe Rayvin or some of the other prog-heads can give you some example artists, Gabriel and Dresden and James Holden are the only ones I can think of. Smile

My favourite is undoubtly uplifting Trance, followed by Goa/Psy Trance, I also like some progressive stuff (sasha etc...) as well as hard trance, specially if it has a nice melody (Push, Flutlicth, Nu-nrg, etc..). I like to hear ambient/chill out (to relax). And there is some kosheen stuff, that I like, but I don't know what is the genre.

Annoying how people stereotype and put ganres into even more sub-genres ...

Progressive - Most people think Sasha and John Digweed right? Music that doesnt have big build ups but builds and funnily enough progresses to the end, but if someone said 'Kuffdam & Plant - Balearica' was progressive, most people would disagree and say that it was more melodic trance or euhporic, sun-drenched, eplifting trance but it follows many guides and rules and trends and stereotypes progressive does .......

If it sounds good play it! I prefer the more Markus Schulz, Sasha, Perry O'Neil and Armin style trance at the moment, I always play a M.I.K.E. (Push) track in my mixes and quite often I'll throw something different in to break things up ... Keeping to a reasonable tempo (129-135) most tracks flow even if they are considered outside that genre, i.e. on Monday I mixed 'Delavari - Soup (Ozgur Can Remix)' into 'Airwave Vs Rising Star - Sunspot (Nick Thompson Remix)', very diverse but at a slow speed they mixed great!

"Dont conform, no pop genres as such ..."

Hope people agree, just my opinion I guess!? Smile

agree with you mathew all the way i guess, if i got ur point right Wink u cant say "sasha & digweed are progressive" Confused not the right explenation...anw i agree with what u said about the balearica track by kuffdam&plant: ''but if someone said 'Kuffdam & Plant - Balearica' was progressive, most people would disagree and say that it was more melodic trance or euhporic, sun-drenched, eplifting trance but it follows many guides and rules and trends and stereotypes progressive does' .......
